Our summer UltraMax competition is in full swing (details at the bottom of the post) and I am LOVING these portraits submitted by Fallon & Mann Barbers 😻 Ian is a barber and small business co-owner as well as a super-talented photographer, so these are actually hair shoots to promote the business 💇🏽‍♂️ Stunning!!! And such fantastic understanding and use of colour theory 🫶🏼

Ian’d caption for the first photo: “This was something I had seen done on Pinterest and was inspired to try. Johnny, the model, was great and we had to shoot on a tripod and the camera had a shutter release cable as it was 1/4th shutter speed. We used constant lighting with gels to achieve the clash of colours. I love the bigness of the flame and the way the three colours clash together.”

And why he loves Kodak UltraMax: “This is a great example on how good it is on skin tone. And the 400 ISO has so much detail. I love it for portraits. Also in my instant camera for parties!”

Thanks so much for submitting Ian, and good luck! Next time I’m in Edinburgh I know where to come for a haircut/photo shoot 😅

This is one of the great summer films for when the weather is...er...summery! Colour rendering is faithful and the film has a great latitude. Grain is minimal and, overall, the film is very forgiving. Billed as 'Professional' this also suits everyday shooters, especially if you want to capture that summer vibe. One of the best Kodaks I've shot.

🎥 IMAX keeps so let’s chat about how we can develop respooled movie film with the ECN2 process in our lab 🧐

Firstly - this is Bhav! Our in-house lab tech who manages all of the more complicated processes we offer: ECN2 (120 and 35mm), E6, push/pull processing, technical black and white, souped films, and other more random bits 😅 His expertise - plus the investment we make in specialist equipment and chemistry - allows us to process and scan nearly everything that you wonderful lot can throw at us! Creative experimentation 🫶🏼

Then the film photos are all shot by Norbi Whitney who adapts IMAX Vision3 (Kodak) film for their medium format cameras to get “the smoothest cinematicest shots available”. I think they are just stunning - even when viewed on a small screen like this - and the negatives have to be seen to be believed!

Now let’s try and book one of these 41 true IMAX venues for a slideshow-and-tell 😅
