We will be closed tomorrow for First Light this weekend - 2 days of wondrous music, spoken word and generally arty stuff on the beach and all free! The main stage acts have a definite up tempo funky bias, with loads of big horn sections which we at ECJ love! Jazz purists need to get up early on Sunday and head for Kensington Gardens at 10.00 for the return of the Norfolk Student Jazz Orchestra; the main stage has a definite bias for up tempo funky stuff with big horn sections which we also love! Check out https://www.ashtonjones.com/ https://another-taste.com/ https://www.facebook.com/CutCapers/ https://www.yearofthedogband.com/ to see what we mean! Also our list of must sees are the balafon of https://www.nfamady.com/ , the wonder that is https://www.johnhegley.co.uk/, folkie https://sethlakeman.co.uk/ and many many more! See you there!

The full programme for First Light Festival 2026 has just dropped, promising a weekend of brilliant music, comedy, art and all sorts in between on Lowestoftโ€™s South Beach! ๐ŸŒ…๐ŸŽ‰

Jamz Supernova, Simon Day and folk favourite Seth Lakeman are all set to appear, alongside plenty of other acts like Rotterdam-born groove, funk and disco band Another Taste; singer-songwriter and producer Lizzie Berchie; master musician Nโ€™famady Kouyatรฉ and Lowestoft bands Like Optimists and MAGNOLIAband.

Plus weโ€™ve got fashion designer and BBC Sewing Bee presenter Patrick Grant in our Ideas tent; performances from DanceEast; John Hegley will be bringing his signature poetic charm to the programme and acclaimed sculptor Laurence Edwards returns, installing his awe-inspiring sculpture โ€˜The Long Waitโ€™ on the beach.

And of course, it all builds to that special moment where you can celebrate the Summer Solstice at our iconic Dawn Celebration.
