So today it’s sails and ails East Point Pavilion! And the Lowestoft Maritime festival down on the south pier. We are open 10-4 today so come and enjoy the live music, enjoy an ale (or two) and come and look at our large collection of Lowestoft and maritime books ❤️⛴️🍻🎶

📚 EPILOGUE’S FEATURED BOOK 📚

This week I’ve chosen Cat Lady by Dawn O’Porter.

I picked this one because underneath the humour, it carries a message I think we all need reminding of sometimes: you’re allowed to live the life you actually want, not just the life you think you’re supposed to.

Funny, honest and a little bit different, Cat Lady is about identity, expectations and what happens when you stop trying to fit neatly into the box life has made for you.

And, obviously, there’s a cat. That helped. 🥹

Books, Brews & Banter is coming to Epilogue! 💙

We’re so excited to launch our brand-new monthly book club—a relaxed, welcoming space where book lovers can come together over great stories, good conversation and plenty of recommendations.

Whether you’ve finished the book, are halfway through, or simply want to meet other readers, you’ll be made to feel at home. Come on your own or bring a friend; there’s no pressure and no judgement—just a friendly community of people who love getting lost in a good book.

📅 Our first meeting:
Sunday 13th September and then the second Sunday of each month.
🕚 11:00am – 12.30pm
📍 East Point Pavilion

📖 Our first book will be announced soon, and you’ll receive 15% off if you buy the monthly pick from Epilogue. Optional of course!

✨ LOCAL AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT — DION WOOD - ELSIE✨

Epilogue is proud to support local authors in the community. This is exactly the sort of thing we LOVE being able to shout about! ❤️

Meet Dion Wood, a Lowestoft author, primary school teacher and dad of three — and the author of Elsie, a post-apocalyptic novel set right here in Lowestoft.

And honestly, how cool is that?!!

“The world ended quietly.

No alarms. No heroes. Just empty streets, shuttered houses and the sea still rolling in against the coast.”

Elsie takes the Lowestoft we know and transforms it into something hauntingly different. Elsie is surviving amongst what remains of the town, moving through its abandoned streets alone. But when she returns to her childhood home, memories begin to surface — family, loss and the moments that made her who she is.

This isn’t an apocalypse story about huge battles and someone swooping in to save humanity. It’s something much more personal: a story about grief, resilience, memory and the fragile hope that surviving might eventually mean more than simply staying alive.

And it’s been written by someone from our own town.

There’s something really special about opening a book and finding familiar places and landscapes woven into the story, and we’re incredibly happy to have Elsie on our shelves at Epilogue Lowestoft in East Point Pavilion.

I’M SORRY… I’M ABOUT TO SAY THE C WORD… 🎄

I’m back in the unit tomorrow and apparently I’ve decided the best way to make myself popular is to start talking about… Christmas … *cheesy grin*

While I’ve been away I’ve been doing a bit of behind-the-scenes scheming and I’ve got lots of lovely bits planned for the next few months!
