Our 9th book club?! Thank you everyone who continues to keep showing up to my little book club 🥹

We had a gorgeous time discussing our August book of the month, Anxious People, a heartfelt book by Fredrik Backman.

Thank you again for our lovely hosts at Pietro Lounge 🩷 until next time!

Can’t wait to give this a read 🤭

I actually love this series, as a huge fan of Killing Eve and all things thriller, I am really invested in Kitty’s story and how she seeks revenge! It genuinely makes me laugh and I adore Katy Brent’s writing style 🔪

My last, now & next reads 🌟📚

Last;
- I absolutely adore ’s writing, especially that of The Thursday Murder Club!
- The characters are all so lovable and have their own little quirks that you can pick up on when reading from their POV

Now;
- 50% of the way through our book of the month by !
- Backman writes so genuinely and it’s so heartwarming, the characters all have such deep and messy feelings, each having made their own mistakes but when it comes down to it, in the end, none of those things matter

Next;
- So I need some help, my TBR list is 60+ books atm and I DESPERATELY need to narrow it down without adding more to the pile 🤭
- Help me pick my next read?!

I love this series so much 🥹

I half listened to this as an audio book and read the hardback, I find the four main characters, Elizabeth, Ron, Ibrahim, and Joyce, so easy to love. The relationship that they have with each other is so wholesome and I hope I have friends like this when I’m old!

Howeverrrr, I thought the plot of this one was a little easy to guess and not my favourite compared to the other 3 in the series ☹️ buttt, I will be reading the next, The Impossible Fortune, soon!

I can’t believe we’ve had 8 book club meet ups 🫨 the fact that everyone keeps coming month after month means so much to me!

We had a wonderful (but slightly too hot 🥵) book club talking about July’s BOTM, VOX by Christina Dalcher, the dystopian novel that honed in on equality, government control, and power.

Our group rated this an average a 3.8/5 🌟

Looking forward to seeing what we pick for this month’s BOTM theme… (literary fiction 🤭)

What I thought of our July book of the month: VOX by Christina Dalcher 📖

“The average person speaks 16,000 words per day. But what if women were limited to just 100?”

Let me just start by saying I LOVE The Handmaid’s Tale, and although this very much had inklings of that universe, I don’t think it matched my expectations, but still a 3 star read for me.

I really enjoyed the way this book took me out of my comfort zone and made me question things, such as ‘What would I do if this happened to me?’

However, I found the book very science-y towards the end, and a bit rushed? At this point I felt so disconnected from the main characters, and really disliked Jean and her actions (book club members we will discuss tomorrow 🤫)

On Friday I managed to swing by Ludlow Library for their book clear out / sale and I’m SO glad I did because I came home with 9 new books 🥹

Just started This Nowhere Place by Natasha Bell as my fiancé chose this as my next read!

Has anyone read any of these?
