Forest Tackle are a retailer of fishing tackle and shooting supplies and have been located in Lydney for over 16 years; they have been at their new location of 18 Newerne Street Lydney since moving from smaller premises in August of 2016. For the sea fisherman the shop holds a range of both shore and boat rods and reels including entry level rod and reel combos for the occasional or holiday angler, there is also a good stock of sea terminal tackle, such as weights, line, hooks and ready-made rigs. Nearby shore fishing is available in the Severn Estuary. For the coarse angler the shop offers rods, reels and poles together with luggage clothing and a vast range of accessories and terminal tackle for both river and lake fishing whether float fishing, bomb or feeder fishing, specialist carp fishing or targeting barbel. The shop offers a large selection of coarse fishing baits including maggots, casters, worms, pellets, ground bait and boilies from the countries best-selling suppliers. The shop also offers pole repairs, elastication and rod ring repairs. Day and season tickets are also sold on behalf of Forest of Dean Angling Club, Yorkley Angling Club and Lydney Angling Club. For the game angler the shop has a good selection of affordable fly and lure rods together with reels, lines, lures, flies and accessories. For the airgun shooter the shop holds a good selection of new and used air rifles and pistols with prices starting from £65 for an entry level air rifle; a large selection of air rifle pellets targets and accessories are also available. For the rifle and shotgun shooter the shop holds a variety of new and used guns together with a good range of accessories. Shotgun cartridges are stocked in all gauges and to cover all areas of shotgun shooting. Details of local clay shooting are available in store. Stocks of rifle bullets are also held in a large range of calibres from 17HMR to .308. The shop also provides shotgun servicing and repairs as well as a transfer in service for rifles and shotguns. Forest tackle also stock a range of darts, stems and flights and in addition country knives, archery and crossbows.
