Pink meadowsweet (or Filipendula rubra)💕 it’s the rosy cloud-like flower near the middle of the bouquet. And it’s the only stem of it I dried this year - I wanted to see how it looked dried before I harvested more. Besides, I love seeing its fluffy pink clouds out in the garden - photo 4.

Another flower in this bouquet love dried (and also didn’t harvest much of) is Veronica longifolia ‘Pink damask’ - the pink spikes on the right hand side. Despite only planting it this spring, it surprised me by doing absolutely fine through the drought with very little watering and even in one of the driest parts of my garden. So it’s one I’d recommend if you’re looking for drought tolerant perennials for a UK garden. It’s also great for the bees 🐝

Ooh I do love a multicolour bouquet… I can add a little bit of all my favourites 🥰 Including that large plummy dahlia in the middle which I think might be Hapet Frambo 💜 This year I’m labeling my dahlias as they dry so I know exactly how each one looks dried and I can edit what I decide to grow next year. I even have labels next to most of the plants in the garden this year - a huge improvement on last year!

Wishing you all a happy Saturday - what are you up to? I’m headed out in the garden to finally get on with the new perennial border I’ve been planning for months. Now the weather’s cooler and a bit wetter I can think about getting plants in the ground 🌱

Pinks & peaches… a favourite colour combo 🩷

The first of this year’s pink gomphrena is in this bouquet (the rose coloured, ball shaped flower). I’ve only just started drying it in the past few weeks and can’t wait to start using more of it. I planted loads of it this year!

An elopement bouquet for Camille 💙

It was designed to fit in a special holder with flowers, ferns and grasses to evoke the wildness of Scotland. I didn’t have any thistles but I think dried knapweed flowers made a good substitute in miniature ☺️ Camille also asked for some cascading bits which I added using dried honeysuckle vine, tucked into the holder with wire.
