We’re so delighted to finally share the beautiful mermaid that the wonderfully talented Linzi West has painted on our shop window.
Linzi has been part of the Ryder & Hope story from the very beginning. Her whimsical, hand-painted face pots have watched over the shelves of the shop since we first opened eleven years ago, each with its own personality and charm. Her work has always had a magical quality to it, somewhere between folklore and Bloomsbury, and we’ve loved having it around us.
At the beginning of the year, we asked Linzi if she would create a mermaid for our window. The result is this beautiful girl, adorned with gold leaf, drifting across the glass wearing one of Cabinet Jewellery Official’s Beachcomber shell necklaces as she swirls around Alice’s scallop shell wreath. She catches the changing light throughout the day and somehow makes the whole shop feel just that little bit more magical.
To celebrate the mural, we also asked Linzi to make a small collection of mermaid plates and platters, each one handmade and individually painted, so that if you fall in love with the mermaid in the window, you can take a little piece of that magic home with you.
They’re now in the shop, waiting to find their own homes.
