Sinead O'Connor , songwriter, singer and activist@released Mandinka in 1987 reaching no 17 in the UK and no 6 in Ireland.
The song was covered as a tribute to O'Connor shortly after her death by Alanis Morissette and the Foo Fighters at a concert in Japan.
An Emmy nomination for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance was received and she performed the song at the Awards Ceremony

Living in the Past was released in 1969 by Progressive rock band Jethro Tull in the UK reaching no 3 in the charts and becoming the bands best known song.
Written by frontman Ian Anderson inspired by Dave Brubeck Take Five. Anderson is a founder member of the band best known for his flute playing
Later in 1972 it was released in the US reaching no 11 in the US Charts

Living Doll was the top selling single in the UK in 1959 made popular by Cliff Richard and the then known as The Drifters, soon to become The Shadows.
The song reached no 1 in its original version that year and then again in 1986 in aid of Comic Relief with The Young Ones .
The song was from the soundtrack for Serious Change and remained at no 1 for 6 weeks. Initially Richard was not keen on the song, it went on to win the composer Lionel Bart an Ivor Novello Award

Oh Happy Day was recorded in 1969 by The Edwin Hawkins Singers led by Dorothy Combs Morrison and became an International hit reaching no 4 in the US and no 2 in the UK and Canada becoming the 2nd best selling Gospel song of all time . The song was award a Grammy in 1970.
Recorded by many inc Elvis, Glen Campbell,Joan Baez and Aretha Franklin and featured in the film Sister Act 2 among others

Written and sang by lead vocalist Sting, “Walking on the Moon” by the Police is the sister song to their No1 Single “Message in a Bottle” and received the same attention and praise charting at No1 in England and Ireland and reaching No9 in Australia. Unlike “Message in a Bottle”, though “Walking on the Moon” did not chart in the states.

Very clearly inspired by reggae the song was originally released on the 5th of October 1979 on the studio album ‘Regatta de Blanc’ and then again later as an extended single on the 23rd of November.

Wrote for Luck by Happy Mondays was released in 1988 and then again in 1989 after a remix.
Formed in 1980, with the brothers Shaun and Paul Ryder the band was later joined by Bez and were an important part in the Manchester music scene and rave culture.
The band headlined Glastonbury.
