Annie's Song, written and performed by John Denver was released in 1974, a song about his 1st wife . His 2nd no 1 in the US and 1st and only hit single in the UK.

Denver was one of the best selling artist in the 70s.

An avid pilot, Denver died in an airplane crash in 1997 aged 53.

BLack Eyed Peas released Where is the Love in 2003 peaking at no 1 in many countries inc the UK which went on to become the highest selling single and receiving 2 Grammy nominations
The song was co written by Justin Timberlake who also sung unaccredited on the single.
This was the 1st time Fergie featured as an official member of the group.
The song was nominated for 2 Grammys

Oye Como Va released in 1971 by Santana, a cover of the song written by Tito Puente in 1962. Santanas version reached no 13 in the US
Santanas version is a Latin Rock style and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002.
Puente was initially outraged by his song being covered by a rock band until he reached his 1st royalty check

Sign Your Name was released in 1987, written and performed by Terence Trent D'Arby, now known as Sananda Maitreya.
The song reached no 2 in the UKand no 1 in Ireland.
D'Arby left college and enlisted in the Army and was posted in Germany. After going AWOL he left and said the experience was a decisive turning point and led him to dedicate himself to music

'Road to Ruin' (1978), Marky Ramone claimed Joey wrote the song inspired by the time he spent in hospital whilst being treated for burns. The song was number 145 on the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of all Time.
