Hello everyone!
Hope youāre all well out there. Now that Iāve spoken to most of those who needed to know first, I can finally tell you all (gulp):
Exmoor Uncommon will be closing in January 2026. Gasp!
I know, right? Bit sad, hey. This year has beenā¦lets go for āchallengingā; some good things, some tricky things, and life has pulled me in a few different directions. Itās meant I canāt give Exmoor Uncommon what she deserves anymore. This isnāt a forever goodbye; I absolutely havenāt given up on my jewellery dream. But for now, my focus needs to be elsewhere.
Iāll be open right the way through until the 4th of January 2026, with the ever wonderful Jess, and then Iāll be shutting down from there. There will be a sale on some things, so if youāve had your eye on something, now is the time! Iām also going to be at both Connect and Creates (one this Sunday, and one the following Sunday) and hope to see lots of you at those.
There are too many thank-yous to count. To the artists and makers whoāve trusted me with your work ā your creativity and patience (particularly over the last year of me faffing around) have meant everything. If you've not had an e-mail from me yet, please do drop me a messagešš
To Clive and Ros, thank you so much for your incredible penny arcade machines - it's been a total pleasure to be the temporary custodian of them. And I definitely didn't eat ALL the sweets.
To my immediate creative support network of friends ā Frankie, Sammy, Soph, Jess (and Myrtle, who has been a much better behaved shop dog than Fluke!), Sarah B, all of the Sallys, Lovely Liz, and Jo Blake ā youāve been a lifeline and an inspiration. There wouldnāt have been an Exmoor Uncommon without you.
To my dear friends and family who literally helped put the shop together, who have been there for every head scratch, every query, every hesitation, and every event where I try and pack 4 million things into my car with your help and endless patience (and only one or two eye rolls as I insist that YES I ABSOLUTELY DO NEED TO TAKE THE FLOOR STANDING LAMP WITH ME IN A CAR THAT IS ONLY SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN A ROLLERSKATE), thank you.
To Mr. Exmoor Uncommon ā thank you for solving problems when I couldnāt, dropping off coffee, making sure I ate when I forgot, and for encouraging me to be bold, weird and authentic.
Finally ā to the most important people of all; all of you whoāve shopped, shared, liked, lingered, booked on a course, told a friend, and cheered us on: thank you isnāt enough. Some of you have become dear, dear friends and all of your support in all of its forms has meant everything.
Iāll miss drawing all over the windows (I think āLobster Clausā really was my best work), the marvellous makers, finding new stockists, the January lock down to make as many pieces as I can, the conversations about art and life, the Sunday Radio 6 Music Cerys soundtrack⦠Iāll miss most of it, really.
ā¦though perhaps not being asked for the millionth time whether Iām āstill the wood-shopāā¦.! And no, I never did get any back scratchers in.
With lots of love, endless thanks,
Lucy, Exmoor Uncommon ###
