OPM Are On The Move 🛻

As you are aware, we have got to move from due to the new rent increases and much needed market refurbishment.

After a lot of searching, we have finally found a new shop with affordable rent, space to allow us to adapt our service offering, and still a highstreet location.

The move obviously means we are going to have a couple of weeks where we won't be 100% operational. The one thing we will make sure of is that food is still on offer to you. We know how important that is to the community.

So on Friday we get the keys 🔑 and we start the big move so please bear with us while we make the move to the new shop.

I have held off posting this as long as I can but unfortunately we have not been able to keep our current community stall indoor market.

The market is soon under going a much needed refurbishment and with this comes a change in leases for all the stall holders.

Currently our stall has been funded by ANSA and we have not had to pay rent here as we were asked to bring much needed footfall and we have exceeded this request.

We were told in May that we were not included in the new plans and there wasn't space for our community stall while the work is to be carried out and after it as there wasn't a big enough stall. This position changed to offer us a double stall with a rent rate of just under £9k a year plus bills.

We have always been transparent and unfortunately we do not make that much money on the stall to cover even 50% of the rent with our current stall operation. It would also mean we would. It be able to fund community projects and classes like we currently do.

We have looked else where and found a high street shop that costed more but it would of allowed us to join a few other independents to share the costs. Also to expand what we do to generate more income to support rent and all the community projects we carry out as well as start to employ 2 part time members of staff.

With reduced space in the market we could not do anything to improve our operation and therefore could not meet the rent demands.

We now need to move in around 6 weeks time and we need to be able to keep our community project within the town centre. We have found a location that is still town centre based within a heavy footfall area that is still accessible to all.

This is where we need your help. We are not funded like some of the other great organisations around the town and we have never asked for support before but after many conversations we realise we have to ask for help to make this move possible.

We support over 300 people each week with free food, clothes at a very low donation price and free to homeless and referrals, free house hold items and much more.

We need to keep this going so please if you can donate even just £1 the team and I will be forever grateful 🙏🏼

12 more months to recycle as much as we can into new products.

Recycling is not the answer, but for now, until things change we are here to do as much as we can.

Over the last few months I have had lots of people asking me to create a What's App group to let everyone know new sorting dates and new items added or taken away from what we are recycling.

Some people seem to miss the updates on social media sites due to our posts not always being shown on your new feeds etc.
