Lisa and Ian Allsop grasped the opportunity to transform an unused plot of land just off the A470 in Dinas Mawddwy into a much-needed local garden centre and farm shop. Squeezed into a compact site we manage to stock a wide range of Welsh-grown shrubs and bedding plants, as well as British-grown perennials, annuals and alpine plants; and the usual garden centre essentials such as compost, pots, fe

rtilisers and gardening related giftware. There is a Wednesday and Saturday delivery of locally made Sourdough bread, produced by Andy’s Bread (Wednesday from Llanidloes) Rye & Roses (Saturday from Penegoes). The shop stocks welsh milk, butter and free range eggs (discounted if you bring your own box!), gammon, pork, sausages, bacon and burgers, pork pies, lamb and mutton from local farmers as well as fruit and vegetables when available from local growers. The shelves are full of delicious jams, preserves, chutneys, sauces, biscuits, crackers and chocolate too. Caffi Bach (Little Cafe) opened in August and serves high quality coffee from Welsh coffee roasters as well as tea, a variety of hot chocolates and cakes.
