✨ Women Crafting Community: Teresa from Teresa Mills Mosaics & Craft Coop Founder ✨
As we reach the final post in our Women Crafting Community series, it feels fitting to end with the story of the woman whose vision helped make so many creative journeys possible.
Teresa’s inspiration for founding Craft Coop came during a visit to Bornholm, Denmark, where she saw craftspeople working together in beautiful collaborative retail spaces. It sparked a simple but powerful idea: independent makers everywhere face similar challenges, from rising costs and limited visibility to the isolation that can come with working alone. What if they could thrive together instead?
That idea became Craft Coop.
Over the last fifteen years, Teresa, alongside the late Deborah Jones and now Heidi Berry, has helped build an award-winning social enterprise that has given hundreds of makers the opportunity to step out of spare rooms, studios, and kitchen tables and into welcoming, professional retail spaces.
When asked what Craft Coop has given her, Teresa speaks not only of professional growth and retail experience, but of community. A place where creativity is valued, friendships are formed, and independent businesses become stronger through collaboration rather than competition.
Her advice to women starting today is one that sits at the heart of Craft Coop’s mission:
“Don’t try to do it all alone. Find your community. Share knowledge, support one another, collaborate rather than compete. When creative women come together, confidence grows, opportunities multiply, and businesses flourish.”
As we celebrate 15 years of Craft Coop, Teresa’s story reminds us that behind every successful creative community is a belief that we are stronger together.
Thank you, Teresa, for creating a space where so many makers have found confidence, friendship, and a place to belong.
