Handmade eco-friendly cards & gifts - available from Etsy, Folksy & Maeldune Heritage Centre This is really important to me but can prove challenging at times!

I am trying to follow a sustainable process using recycled materials wherever possible leading to finished items that are themselves recyclable. I support the 'Naked Cards' campaign by not using plastic packaging, only clear compostable packaging when selling my cards in shops and recycled paper packaging for posting items. I chose the name Cottage Garden Cards Co when I set up my first online shop with Etsy, I was working in my cottage garden at the time which influenced a lot of my designs. I just love wild flowers and the relaxed cottage garden feel.

I've just taken some Christmassy stock to Maeldune Heritage Centre here in Maldon for their Christmas Fayre which opens 13th November and runs til 21st December 🌲
Beautiful art and crafts all handmade by local artists ... Shop small, shop local and shop handmade this Christmas! 🎁🎄

A new listing in my shop this morning ... my brown paper origami stars looked rather dull so I added a little festive foliage to cheer them up!

I have decided to close my Cottage Garden Cards Co Etsy shop and concentrate on selling my handmade cards and gifts on Folksy and in the Maeldune Heritage Centre here in Maldon.
A year ago I set up Yesterdaisyretro https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/yesterdaisyretro on Etsy to sell vintage items and upcycled crafts which needs a bit more of my attention now, so time to simplify things a little ...

Folksy is SO much smaller than Etsy and it's never easy being pitted against a giant.⁠

We don't have the resources or scale that they do, but what we do have is: ⁠
♥️ a genuine passion for and love of craft⁠
♥️ an amazing support team on hand to help you⁠
♥️ an enforced handmade or original design-only policy⁠
♥️ and an incredible community of talented and supportive artists and makers... ⁠
that we believe all lead to a wonderful and inspiring place to shop. ⁠

There is still much more we need to do to have the reach we would like, but we promise to hold on to those principles while we work hard to get there and always put our sellers' needs first. ⁠

We think that's what makes shopping on Folksy special. Hopefully you do too...

The exhibition is on until 26 March with lots of beautiful spring themed art from local artists ...
