The Contemporary Glass Society are delighted to be hosting an online view of the Dutch Glass Biennale: Living the Glass Age. We will be hosting this special event with talks from Alice Baker, Wilhelm Vernim and Kristiina Uslar as well as a special digital tour of the exhibition.

Living The Glass Age is now open in the Eemklooster in Amersfoort until the 12th of April.

Our online event will be held on Wednesday 1st April @ 7pm UK time. Open to all - you just need to sign up for free via eventbrite for the link to attend! See you there!

A little glimpse from Saturday’s Private View for Contemporary Glass Society’s “It’s All In The Technique” exhibition.
One of those afternoons where every few steps someone says “come and look at this one…”

It was such a lovely afternoon at The World of Glass seeing the exhibition properly come to life, with visitors, collectors and several of the exhibiting artists all there to celebrate the opening.

This reel captures a small snapshot of the incredible range of work selected for the exhibition, along with some of the wonderful people who came along to view and purchase the pieces on display. It was also really nice to catch up with friends and fellow artists from the glass community.

The gallery space at The World of Glass is a beautiful setting for the show, and the team there were so welcoming throughout.

But truly, this is an exhibition that needs to be experienced in person. The range of techniques on display is remarkable, and it’s only when you see the work up close that you really appreciate the skill, detail and sheer variety within contemporary glass.

If you get the chance, it’s well worth a visit!

Want to see glassblowing in action this year? Here’s where you’ll find us in 2026.

The days are getting brighter, the furnace is hot, and our diary is filling up. We’ll be out on the road demonstrating at events across the country including Living Heritage shows, Living Crafts at Hatfield House, Handmade in Oxford, The Game Fair, and a new one for us this year — The Great British Farm Fest.

Back at the studio, our Summer Open Day returns on 27 June with live glassblowing demonstrations, a studio sale, and the traditional favourite Pimms and strawberries & cream. Later that evening we’ll be teaming up with Tallarn Green Village Hall for a live music event — more details to follow soon.

As autumn arrives, our Pumpkin Glassblowing Sessions return to the studio (early booking recommended). Then we round off the year with our Christmas Open Studio — live demos, mulled wine, mince pies and plenty of handmade glass gifts ready for Christmas.

Romantic weekends come in many forms… ours involve 1100’ molten glass and some serious concentration faces.

A few weeks ago our studio benches were filled with couples giving glassblowing a go for Valentine’s weekend. There was plenty of teamwork, the occasional debate over colours for each other, and a lot of fascination watching molten glass slowly become something you can actually take home.

They even tried their hand at drawing patterns with glass, trailing coloured molten glass across the surface of their pieces. Equal parts steady hands, creativity, and a little bit of bravery.

Valentine’s may be behind us, but our Couples Glassblowing Package runs throughout the year and includes an overnight stay at The Lion in Malpas, with dinner, bed and breakfast, turning the experience into a rather lovely creative getaway.

These were all made over the weekend across a mix of our glassblowing experiences, from quick tasters to more immersive sessions. Whether you’ve got a couple of hours or a full day, there’s a way to get hands-on and make something truly your own.

This weekend we had the pleasure of welcoming Emma & Keith into the studio for one of our Couples Glassblowing Courses.

Coming from non-artistic day jobs, they joined us wanting to do something exciting and creative together and quickly surprised themselves. They picked things up fast, brought great energy, and made for a really enjoyable day at the furnace.

As part of the experience, they enjoyed a relaxed overnight stay with dinner included at The Lion in Malpas, before returning to the studio to collect their finished pieces the following morning. Easy-going, good-humoured, and a genuine pleasure to teach.

Our Couples Glassblowing Package is all about shared time, trying something new, and making a proper weekend of it. Gift vouchers are available and can be emailed across in time for Christmas 🎄
