Anyone off to this tonight?🎶🎵

Join the theatrical premiere of documentary james: Getting Away With It – featuring a live performance from the band 🎥 🎶

Following a world festival premiere at SXSW London, James: Getting Away With It gets its theatrical release here at Aviva Studios this August – complete with a Q&A and live acoustic performance from one of Britain’s most beloved bands.

Directed by Chris Atkins, James: Getting Away With It features candid interviews with band members past and present, contributions from Chris Martin, Brian Eno and Jo Whiley, unseen archive footage and hilarious backstage scenes in the present day.

The film is a soulful and wry account of creativity, friendship and the mistakes that shaped one of the UK music’s most improbable success stories.

🎟️ Tickets are on sale Monday 6 July at 10am.

🏳️‍🌈MANCHESTER LGBT ICONS🏳️‍🌈

Sir Ian McKellen, the legendary actor best known as Gandalf from Lord of the Rings, has made an incredible impact both on-screen and off! Growing up in Greater Manchester, Ian publicly came out as gay during a BBC Radio interview 30 years ago, and he’s been a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ rights ever since.🌈

As a co-founder of Stonewall and a patron of various LGBTQ+ organizations, Ian continues to champion equality. In 2019, he launched the Pride in Ageing program with the LGBT Foundation to support those over 50. 🏳️‍🌈 This initiative works to end inequalities in later life, ensuring access to inclusive housing and care, and celebrating the positives of being an LGBT person in mid-to-later life. Ian’s dedication to building an empowered and connected community is truly inspiring!

It's Pride Month here in Manchester, so how could we not mention Alan Turing

He cracked the enigma code which shortened WW2 by two years, saving over 14 million lives. However, his efforts at the time were widely disregarded due to the 20th-century attitude to homosexuality.

In 2013, the ‘Alan Turing Law’ was passed which officially pardoned those convicted of same-sex relationships. If you have time today, go take a seat next to his statue in Sackville Gardens, in the heart of Manchester’s Gay Village.🌈

As it's Manchester Pride this month, who knows about the iconic legend and pioneer of the LGBTQ+ scene in
Manchester. 🏳️‍🌈

Drag Queen and activist Foo Foo Lamar helped put Manchester on the map as Britain's LGBT capital. He purchased multiple nightclubs Manchester (including the iconic Foo Foo's palace) that went on to become
what we now know as 'The Gay Village'.

Not many people know that he also worked tirelessly fundraising for charities such as The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

A true Manc LEGEND!🐝
