Pre-eclipse blue skies under the trees at Platt Fields on Wednesday.

I didn't get any great eclipse photos, though I did watch it with my homemade cereal box viewer. But I did enjoy the collective experience of it all. The park was full of people with their own homemade viewers and picnics. It was lovely to be part of that. And afterwards to see all the photos from all around the Northern hemisphere.

There are some amazing photos online. I particularly love the crescent shadows through the trees and the time lapse ones (there's a good one of the latter on the Jodrell Bank insta btw)

This Spring I started stocking the lovely Bud garden centre in Burnage. I've actually been a customer of theirs for ages...

This Spring I started stocking the lovely Bud garden centre in Burnage. I've actually been a customer of theirs for ages, and now, you'll find a carefully chosen range of my stock there, along with some vintage brooches I've sourced (with plant themes, of course). But I really wanted to highlight something special from my collection, this beautiful Fern necklace.

It was fun to plan, starting with sketches and chats with Bren over coffee, followed by all the little behind-the-scenes tweaks. I'm so proud of it! The fern image we chose is from a Victorian botanical guide. And it's etched onto the pendant to give fine detail *

There's only a few, and they are only available at Bud.

How is your summer so far? 🌞

I'm loving the longer brighter days, particularly now it's a little cooler, and having some time away from markets means I have weekends free to see people, or just take a bit more time over things, to go a bit slower. An extra hour in bed, an extra cup of tea, watering a friend's allotment. Simple joys.

Behind the scenes I'm restocking my wonderful stockists and planning Christmas (yes really! 🎄 )

A little reminisce ahead of the weekend, and before the shop closes it's doors.

When it opened in November we were going home with the Christmas Markets around us and fairy lights up. Now it's blue skies and brilliant sunshine (mostly).

What started as Christmas Pop-Up ended up being 8 months and it's been lovely to see it grow and change. 60 small businesses, wonderful customers, and a place to stay for a bit and invite people in. I've loved chatting to customers about the makers and my lovely city.

The Corn Exchange is a pretty iconic building and it was great to have a place in the centre of the city.

Although we’re closing the doors to this pop-up, this isn’t the end of Eclektika, so please follow their account on socials for where they'll pop up next, and if you know a place you think would be a good fit send them a message.

Thank you to all the customers, traders and my chums who popped in for a chat on my staffing days.

Do you know what 'mithered' means?

A lovely Mancunian word meaning a bit fussed over, or pestered, but not usually said in anger. I think it's perhaps used in Yorkshire too?

Do you have any regional words that you think are interesting? (Hoping someone from Rochdale sees this and posts a very specific one!)

Bank Holiday weekend! 🌞

No markets for me this weekend, I'm taking a little time off to enjoy some simple, quiet luxuries.

A little gardening; I have a very traditional small Manchester yard, so it's all pots. But I have an apple tree and bluebells, and I'll be planting strawberries and mint in hanging baskets.

I need to tidy the house too. Nothing quite like a sleep after changing the sheets when you have no alarm the next day.

Enjoy your weekend, whatever you do.

Do you recognise these windows? The old and the new together.

The venue for my market this weekend the People's History Museum, on Saturday and Sunday.

It's being held in the engine hall, which still has lots of original industrial details, and where these beautiful big windows are.

They'll be 25 makers there and I know a couple of them are my chums, so it should be a lovely weekend.
