Hey sourdough lovers - have you tried this new organic butter yet??

It's made by using milk from small co-operative farms in Wales that place sustainability and taste at the very heart of their products. That means grass-fed, clover rich land that is never treated with artificial sprays, fertilisers or chemicals.

Calon Wen are one of the highest rated dairy producers on Ethical Consumer, scoring 73/100 overall across multiple categories such as animal welfare, agriculture (how they manage their land and the impact on local ecosystems) and company ethics.

NUTS! We've had a bit of a hiccup...

Unfortunately, our Withington store will be CLOSED ON FRIDAY. We're so sorry about this and we hope that we haven't put any of you out.

We'll be back with you Saturday and Sunday as normal, fresh sourdough on Sat 🍞🥖

And MARPLE is unaffected, open as normal!

We've only just gone and arranged for some absolutely delicious, locally grown heritage tomatoes to be delivered to both Withington and Marple stores!

Grown by the amazing team at Kindling Farm at their Woodbank Park farm in the centre of Stockport, so these toms will have travelled just 4 miles to our Marple store and 9.5 miles to Withington. How good is that.

They're all organically grown, which means no nasty chemicals that can decimate the local soils and waterways.

Varieties including Purple Calabash, Martina, Clementine and Gardeners delight. Catch them while you can!

Flashback to 7 years ago - this is what our corner of was like when we took over the shop!

There was a lot of work that needed doing to turn this building into our tiny zero waste shop and we're immensely proud of what Lentils and Lather has become. 

We're particularly proud of YOU, our community, for being so engaged in the need to live more sustainably and reduce waste 🙏

It's a shame we couldn't rescue that parquet floor, but it was just too battered.

I was recently invited to join a discussion with some wonderful humans!

As some of you may know, Paulina (one of the OG brains behind L&L) volunteers some of her time to help Levenshulme Youth Project (LYP) to provide a range of activities and opportunities that can help build robust relationships and skills that will help these young people in their adult lives.

One such skillset is podcasting, where two of the girls, Murakh and Anfaal, delve into hot topics, opening up conversations about things that matter to them.

At the LYP AGM recently I was invited to take a hot seat alongside none other than Hannah Spencer, the Green Party MP for Gorton and Denton. Together, we chatted about how the proposed social media ban, which is likely to come into force next year, will affect young people.

The girls led a really interesting conversation that Hannah and myself were fortunate to be able to contribute to and we're hoping that it will be published online soon (will share if/when).

And it was brilliant to meet Hannah - keep on doing the green thing and, more importantly, telling the establishment how they've been getting it all wrong!
