If anyone has instruments to donate, please get in touch. I have been involved in putting together a team of luthiers to fix any donated violins, violas and cellos.

Do you have a second-hand musical instrument you could donate to a child at 🎻? With the help of Oglesby Charitable Trust Green Grants ♻️ we will repair up to 100 second-hand instruments for use by our young musicians 🛠️ Every year, thousands of musical instruments go to landfill due to the prohibitive cost of repair 🗑️ Many are made of rare woods and metals, which are impossible to recycle. We are partnering with the Oglesby Charitable Trust, and a team of community luthiers to breathe new-life into second-hand instruments and put them into the hands of young people to inspire the next generation of musical talent in Manchester 🌱 If you have an instrument you'd like to donate, get in touch! Link to instrument donation form in bio 🔗 Please note we unfortunately cannot accept guitars, pianos or drum kits.

I am giving away some amateur made instruments, these are free but I would ask you pay for postage (typically around £15 for UK delivery). The first is a violin, it could do with attention to the setup and the varnish needs polishing in places.
The second instrument is probably an Eastern European factory made 39cm viola, that the maker revarnished. It needs a fingerboard and setup.
The third instrument is a large 42cm viola which definitely needs revarnishing, so would be great for a varnish trial. It's a heavy instrument so if anyone wanted it as a working instrument, rethicknessing and neck reshaping would be necessary.
Please contact me via Facebook or via [email protected] if you're interested or would like more info.

As well as the Klanggestalten concert, there were sound trials where one instrument from each maker was put through its paces by top professional players. The instruments were identified by number and then the names revealed once they had all been played. Thanks to Professor Tomoko Asaka from the Münster Hochschule für Musik for fearlessly putting all these violas through their paces!
