We spent an enjoyable workshop today with the talented Emily Notman learning how to layer mixed fabrics and laces, paint a background wash, and embellish with simple stitches and other fabrics.
We need to complete our embellishments but these are works in progress.

Just finished a bit of stitching for myself! My first attempt at some gold work which isn’t perfect by any means but I’m happy with what I’ve achieved.
A fabulous tutorial helped me through from the designer, Cathy Reavy from www.threadsworkshops.co.uk.

Eni Oken has created this wonderful slow stitching piece which is crammed full of pattern and stitches. I love the intricate detail which must have been built up really gradually and gaps filled as they arose.

I had to show you what I’ve just come across!

Jane Barnett has made these using scraps of fabric and stitches, and I think they are absolutely incredible. Lots of little Suffolk puffs which I adore making myself.

I’ve been meaning to post this for a few weeks so better late than never!

My wonderful Tuesday morning ladies have created these bags with a given template and the instructions that the seams were to be decorated with stitching.
There was a lot of teeth gnashing at the start at the thought of so few pointers as what to do next, but look at what they have achieved! 😍
Each bag is totally unique and reflects each stitcher perfectly.

Now we only have to decide what to use them for and not just admire them!

A book for you lefties out there is coming out in the coming months.
As an embroidery teacher and a rightie, I have found it difficult to teach left handers as my tiny brain finds it hard to reverse things! But this should help all of that. Keep an eye out for it!
