It's and hopefully you're coming to the end of your working day, so it's time to break a rule or two - it's unusually hot, a great way to cool down is a beautiful piscine. And yes, if you do have a pool jump in, but also dive into a large glass of rose wine, with LOTS of ice and if it's been a good/bad day you can spritz it with a dash of vodka, st Germain (that we all have laying about) and soda...

On to the weekend and it's looking a bit cooler Saturday, so after you've fed your inner soldier at the Armed Forces day at Mistley Village Hall, have a wander up to for nice time with Jazz Station, from 7.30p.m; dress for the occasion and make it a date night?? ๐Ÿฅ‚. Then Sunday, all kinds of who knows what, is coming back to when hold owl court from 5.00p.m. See you around ๐Ÿ˜Ž

It's and it just so happens June 10th is world drink DURIF day. For those that remember the heady days of Winyl, this image will bring back memories of the mouth watering, plummy, blackcurrant, chocolatey yumminess of 'the finisher'. With French origins 'Petite Syrah' gave birth, spread to warmer climates and now thrives in the aussie sun. DURIF is a 'hot' wine and worth seeking out for these dark and stormy Summer days ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿท .

It's also still the .earth.festival with more great talks, walks and information, and the free shuttle running again on Saturday 13th....which is also drink Chenin Day! Two great wine days in one week!! Chenin is another emigrant from the Loire region of France (vouvray/cremant) but has become synonymous with South Africa producing creamier, tropical flavored, lush wines. Great when we see the sun again.๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Sunday is an extra market day with local crafts and goodies to pick over and on the live music front, has some smooth Motown from 3.00p.m to ease you back into another week! See you around ๐Ÿฅ‚

It's and we're leading into celebrating ALL the bubbles from frizzante, prosecco, traditional method champagne, cava, cap classique and our favourite, delicious ancestral method, pet nats & col fondo ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿฅ‚

It's also a MASSIVE weekend for our tiny town...
๐ŸŒ .earth.festival is in full swing with WEEK 2 events happening all week, but Saturday is packed with things to do - there is also a FREE shuttle bus from the station so you can get to them all; including

๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ with a full day and night, of FREE events in various venues around town and on South Street outside

๐Ÿ’ƒ has some extra tickets for the Comedy and Drag night - don't miss that one.

Then NEXT weekend is the Sunday Summer fair on the marketplace, save the date.

Last but not least, it's this week and many of these events are being put on by members of the community and donating their time for free to make it all happen, so please do get out and support these events. See you around

It's and we hope you enjoyed the extended bank holiday weekend (if you weren't at work!)
Mrs W is back from her Cรดte d'Azur decompress, bringing some beautiful wine home for Mr W...not this one though - this French gem is from , we may have mentioned it before because it's perfect for these warm evenings, and organic too ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท.

On to this week and Thursday is the return of Open Mic .arts then Saturday, if you wish to cast your musical net wider are at the Crown Post Harwich. The Manningtree Earth Festival has kicked off properly too with events all this week; leading into JUNE and the return of on Saturday 6th, with soooo much stuff going on we couldn't fit it all in; go check out their pages, ร  bientรดt ๐Ÿฅ‚

"Do you remember the first time? (2022). You know that we've changed so much since then.Oh yeah, we've grown". The new format festival launches this Saturday.

It's a and we LOVE a bee friendly wine ๐Ÿ, (yes some vineyards have bee hives to help biodiversity, pollinating cover crops that in turn not only help soil, but attract predator bugs, who keep the nasty ones away). So if you see a vineyard with beehives, then you know it's been looked after organically, 'cos bees hate that man made s**t!

It's good news for too, we're coming to a bank holiday weekend and has something for everyone:

FRIDAY 22nd sees the launch of the newest joint in town Little Bear Bar , just off North Street behind travel (the old much lamented bakery), launching with a great range of local beers. We shall see about the wine, my oenophile friends ๐Ÿ˜œ. Later on there is the return of The Remedy at The Crown from 7.30p.m

SATURDAY 23rd is the final in the old Barclays bank before it goes to auction, so get down to town and check it out plus do drop in to all the other shops to see what's new.

SUNDAY 24th is another chance to spread the love for local traders at the Mistley bazaar, (drop into the postie for a cheeky spritz on the way?๐Ÿน) then dem Lettuce heads will be back The Red Lion shaking their bank holiday butts for you from 8.00p.m

Don't forget to check out the rest of our tiny towns shops and bars; Estuarywinebar is gearing up for Pride on 6th June with some brand new cocktails, are open extra hours and have started getting in some STUNNING organic wines, from hallgarten and we expect the Skinners have some sport on, if that's your thing ๐Ÿฅฑ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคฃ. What did we miss, comment below!?

We are happy to have supported the patron saint of Colchester and fantastic organisation today (and for the glory of Rome), on the pier to pier march. VII 'gruelling' miles, facing barbarian hordes and wild beasts along the way ๐Ÿคฃ, taking shelter at Walton for sustenance ๐Ÿฅ‚, before catching the horseless carriage home. Gratias multas to everyone who supported us, (so far) every denarius helps make the final days comfortable. Tempus fugit ๐Ÿ•š.

It's a stormy & weird and, after last weeks locals, I think we all need a drink; funnily enough we accidentally fell into Hadleigh earlier, whilst on a mission, and were saddened to discover they are one of FIVE branches in the area closing at the end of May. Bad news for wine lovers, but we cheered ourselves up by picking up the requisite half dozen, including this Saperavi (outside of Italy varietals, one of our favorite reds) . Wonder how long that stays in the rack ๐Ÿค”.

Also, this weekend, if you want to be soothed, stunned and seduced by strings get thee to church, this Friday 15th, for the new album playthrough from the world famous, engaging and entertaining and extraordinary harp tickler Joy Smith.
https://www.ticketsource.com/jorge-jimenez/curiosa-lost-found-tunes/e-yzjgzg ๐ŸŽป ๐Ÿช‰ ๐Ÿซถ. Surely better than the masochistic experience of the Eurovision 'song' contest ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ˜ต ๐Ÿ˜œ.

And (probably not) the final reminder that we will (both) be marching the seven mile stretch from Clacton to Walton pier, with one of us in period (Roman) garb for St Helena Hospice, this Sunday 17th May. If you do wish to add coin follow the link or search just giving Sir Winyl
https://www.justgiving.com/page/sir-winyl-6?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL but we are doing it as a good excuse to dress up and clock some more healthy 'wine credits' miles up ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿท๐Ÿฅ‚.

It's and we're heading back after our first Albanian experience. Lots of Italian wine on sale (unsurprisingly) but we stuck with the local verรซ and had some beautiful new juice, as pictured, also some utter filth ๐Ÿคฎ. TBF they were from shops in a largely Muslim area, so who knows how long those bottles had been rotting there ๐Ÿ™„.

We hope you had a lovely UK bank holiday, time to recoup before the next one when there is exciting news with opening weekend from Friday 22nd. Saturday 23rd is very possibly final as the site goes to auction (at least that means something is happening), spaces are limited so ask Tony 07877 244661. Then, on Sunday 24th The Red Lion host just to make sure you're not fit for anything on Monday ๐Ÿ˜‚
