💛🤎The past few weeks have been beyond busy, and every day I’m feeling sooooo tired, exhausted doesn’t even cut it,….. but,…… I don’t have to have everything figured out, I just need to keep moving forward! I always survived by the mantra “physician heal thyself”, well this old girl needs to listen to her body a bit more.

I always say I don’t do staged or picture perfect photos, this is a classic example, well guys the eye bags are for real, lifetime membership 😝. I am incredibly privileged to be working on something I always dreamed of, but it doesn’t mean you don’t feel burnt out. To every single small business owner, I salute you, it’s a f**king tough gig … 💛🤎

**A heartfelt announcement from Beeston Brownie 🧡**

We're sad to share that we'll be closing our shop doors for the last time on 15th August 2026. Rising costs and a difficult drop in sales have made this a decision we simply couldn't avoid.

But this isn't the end of Beeston Brownie — far from it. We'll be putting our energy into growing other parts of the business, including wholesale, online sales, corporate orders, and events. So while the shop chapter is closing, our story continues.

We'd like to say a huge thank you to our incredible shop staff, Donna and Layney, who have worked so hard and shown real dedication through some really tough times. We couldn't have asked for better people by our side. 🙏

And to every single customer, past and present, who walked through our doors and supported us — thank you. Truly. It's meant the world.

We hope you'll continue to find us online, through our stockists, and at our many events, we can't wait to share what's next.

💛🤎”Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much ….. “

Let’s chat Volunteers,… in particular my Volunteers! To give, without any reward ,and those that give me their time and love is truly priceless! My Volunteers choose me, not the other way round, and despite his protests of “being retired” 😝, Shaun absolutely loves every second being here (now on his 3rd holiday) and I’m missing him.

The past 6 weeks has been very physically challenging, the heat is a sedative but to Shaun, Michelle and Sam…. thank you! Thank you for all you give, all you do, and for picking me up when I’m on the floor! Nothing is ever too much trouble, they are my PoFfles family. I do, of course, also have an extended Volunteer family (past and present) but these 3 have smashed June and July! Some faces you’ll see on a regular basis, others every couple of weeks or months and I’m blown away that I’ve a long waiting list of people wanting to help! I think it says more about them, than me don’t you agree!

Soooo, to Gobsh*te Gary (who wrongly assumed I use and abuse “free labour”) please come and shake the hands of my amazing Volunteers, hear their story and change your 💩 mindset … 💛🤎

💛🤎Did someone say “DAY OFF”???

Well,… I did (although I’m always working as I’ve my Bereavement Cafe Mansfield bakes to do) so we popped into the Barrel Micropub for two pints of lager and a packet of crisps,…. bloody hell the place is PoFfletastically amazing - it was so much more than two pints on Mr PoFfles part and it’s so much more than lager,… ohhhhh the choice (I was driving though)! It’s very rare we get to spend quality time together so this made for a perfect Sunday.

The warmth and the welcome really is testimony to Bev and Mark and the ambience and atmosphere they’ve created. It’s a bloody tough gig running your own business but you guys are smashing it! The place was buzzing, full of chat, locals, regulars and laughter and, the best bit,… doggo’s are welcome! I think this is now one of my favourite places … please do support this wonderful place,… see you next Sunday guys … 💛🤎

💛🤎PoFfles,… we are “Inclusive”,…. and I’ve my late Dad to thank!

In 1988, my Dad was working overtime, money was tight for my parents and he had an accident at work, no fault of his own, the company was to blame. It left him a paraplegic, he spent a total of 13 months initially in hospital, 3 months in a coma, 4 months in ITU, then 7 months at Stoke Mandeville Spinal Injuries Unit. I remember taking him out a few months after he’d been home, he fancied a brew and a bite to eat. He couldn’t gain access to the cafe, I was heartbroken for him, he just shrugged if off and said “oh well”, we went home and we had a garden picnic!

My aim, my mission, my mantra, is to make PoFfles a place where everyone is welcome, and I’ll move mountains if I can to make it so! From the able bodied, to those with a fancy set of wheels, and those with social anxiety (I’ll open early for you or stay open later and offer exclusivity),… my door is always open ….💛🤎

PS: I know if he was still here, he’d be a regular visitor, and there’d even be a “Bill’s Brew” on the Menu …

I’m going home shortly to put my feet up but we’re currently at IKEA eating meatballs and I’m drinking wine…. It’s called balance and because I can. Hello weekend, albeit only half a day for me … 💛😂

💛🤎Despite my working day being 16 hours today, every second, minute and hour of that has been a blessing!

Finishing the day off in true PoFfles style with our Quiz Night and we now have new champions! Thank you to all who came.

Having not eaten since 0600, dinner tonight was the insane ‘Sharing Platter’ from the beaut that is Kiki Kitchen! Table for two at the cutest little vintage tearoom in Mansfield Woodhouse, our plates were fully loaded and I’ve never tasted food like it. So full of flavour, spice, all things nice and jerk chicken that was off the charts tasty,.. bloody awesome! If you’ve not placed an order yet, you are missing out big time …. 💛🤎

💛🤎📕Today, and this is also echoed by me personally, PoFfles had the honour and pleasure of welcoming the amazing Billy Harrison, and his beautiful wife, back to chat all things Memories of a Woodus Lad, Volume 2. The kindest, caring, funniest and most giving soul,… thank you Billy! We was super lucky to also be joined by Alyson Ciborski,….

My tearoom was filled with chat and laughter and such a connection reminiscing about days gone by. Apologies to everyone for the few that arrived late as I hope this didn’t disrupt it for anyone!

Just a little nudge…. has anyone taken home the Volume 1 copy I had on my counter, this is one I keep for all to read and it’s simply gone walkies. If you picked it up by accident can you please return it asap…

PS: Billy asked me “what brought you to Woodus Amy”? My answer “Love”….. Love for my now Husband and unconditional love for all that PoFfles is and the Community I’ve built …. 💛🤎📕
