We are open Monday 22nd & Tuesday 23rd December from 10.00am to 3.00pm and 10.00am to 2.00pm on Christmas Eve.

Orders placed on our website by 2.00pm are dispatched same day, select our Next Day Delivery option at the checkout for UK mainland delivery before Christmas Day. Orders placed after 2.00pm on Tuesday 23rd December will be delivered after Christmas.

Join us for a magical evening exploring the world of bats before they slow down for the season. Learn about the fascinating species that call our parks home and experience them in flight!

Each walk includes:
✨ A warm welcome and safety briefing
🦇 An intro to bats in the park
🚶‍♀️ A slow, guided walk with stops to spot and listen for bats
📄 Handouts with bat frequencies, facts, and photos

Today We Celebrate Our 123rd Birthday!

On 26th August 1902, William Slack on his 18th birthday started his business in Mansfield. Originally a skilled shoemaker, William laid the foundations for a business built on craftsmanship and quality.

The photograph shown here was taken outside our Rosemary Street shop in the 1970s, capturing a moment in our long history as part of the Mansfield community.

After the Second World War, the business began selling outdoor clothing and equipment, a new direction that would shape W. Slack & Sons for generations to come.

Today, in 2025, we celebrate 123 years of serving Mansfield and beyond. Still proudly family-run, and now in our 3rd generation, our promise remains the same: quality outdoor clothing, footwear, and service that lasts.

From 1902 to today — and into the future — thank you for being part of our journey.

Here’s to 123 years strong, and many more to come.

A nice walk in Grizedale Forest this morning and next it's Go Ape. Having a great time.

Survived the high ropes course and zip wires....just, so I will be back to open up the shop on Monday from 10.00am to 3.00pm.

Old Man, Coniston looking lovely this morning. A really perfect hike today, weather conditions kind too.

Really proud of Ben and Katie who made the scramble to the summit look like a walk in the park.
