Our store might have a new home but our bestsellers remain the same. Our Resting Beach Face sweatshirts and tees have been flying out the door, forcing me to order more as quickly as possible!

Hand screen printed in soft organic cotton, comfortable, flattering and seaside tongue in cheek - what’s not to love?!

This is prime RBF season too: the sun is shining, the sea is inviting and Margate’s summer is in full swing.

If you can’t find your size then please know we are doing what we can to restock asap. Thank you for your continued support of our small business (run by a team of talented mums juggling school holidays and the busiest time of year!)

MOVED IN TOWN: Harbour & Tide

There’s no need to walk up the hill for your elevated beach essentials these days, Harbour & Tide has moved to Old Town.

Nestled in one half of the old Ramsay & Williams site, Katy has already noted more people discovering her beach lifestyle store.

The new shop has been so much busier than we ever expected, which is honestly the best problem to have. The catch is I’ve barely had a spare minute to point a camera at any of it.

My team have thrown themselves into the new space completely, learning every corner of it and making sure everyone who walks through the door gets the best possible welcome. I couldn’t do this without them.

And the community response has been something else. So many of you have popped in just to say hello, have a look round, and tell us how much you love what we’ve done. It genuinely means so much.

We might be a little quieter on here while we focus on getting it right in store, but we’ll try our best to share more soon.

We did it! And it was as bonkers as anticipated 🤣
I was hot, hormonal and sleep deprived but somehow I moved the entire contents of my shop down the hill, including all the fixtures and fittings. We designed and built a new counter on the hop from an idea in my head and an inherited tin of paint and I assembled 6 Mustard Made · Statement Storage lockers and only got a few bits wrong 😅

After months of imagining this space in my head from snatched photos of an unfinished renovation and measurements taken in a rush, somehow it has all come together and looks even better than I could have hoped.

And what a reception you have given us! Our first 5 days have been BUSY!! It turns out that even more people love our curation of joyful, functional and sustainable goods for seaside life… we just had to bring it down the hill!

I owe a massive thank you to for bringing my idea to life in 2 days with 3 sheets of ply, sweat and sawdust. To Jane horgan 🇮🇪 for helping me paint, unpack and for humouring me when I was a sweaty hot mess not making any sense. To Hermetic Sign Company for another beautiful job on the sign. And a big shout out to my landlords past and present whose support and flexibility has made all this possible.

Harbour & Tide has a new home and I couldn’t be happier. We are open 7 days a week for the summer and we cant wait to see you.

BIG NEWS. Harbour & Tide is moving! After 3 and a bit wonderful years on Fort Hill, we are moving into a bigger unit in the centre of Margate Old Town. Into a building where Karl Marx once stayed! And one that everyone in Margate knows and loves as the previous home of Ramsay & Williams on Market Street.

It seems completely mad to move a beach shop in the middle of summer (and a heatwave) but this is how it’s worked out, and I am determined to get into our new space before the schools break up. Yup, you read that correctly, that gives us just over a week to turn this around!

Luckily for me I have been watching a lot of Interior Design Masters with my daughter so I know that these things are possible, albeit without the budget and free labour 🤣 But I am not letting that hold me back! I have been quietly plotting this move behind the scenes for months and I am (mostly) confident that I can pull it off.

It does mean we will close for a few days next week, but my plan is to be open by Friday 17th at the latest.

I will have to leave the perfectionist in me at the door and fully embrace the chaos and the reality that the new store won’t be as finished and polished as I might like. But in reality a retail store evolves and develops as you live in it, just as this one has here on Fort Hill.

It goes without saying that I will miss this gorgeous little shop that has been home since early 2023. I will miss the view, the wonderful windows, and our friends in the Fort Quarter. But I am super excited for the next chapter on Market Street, and it feels like the right time to try something new.

On hot sunny days our shady bench really comes into its own. I mean look at that view! Take a break half way up Fort Hill and swing by for a spot of summer shopping and a welcome shady breeze.

It’s been soooo hot and I’ve been really busy trying get things in order before the summer holidays that somehow it’s been a week since I posted on here. Needless to say we’ve been pretty run off our feet in store, supplying the good people of Margate with hot weather essentials along with shipping your online orders and then heading to the beach and throwing ourselves in the sea when time permits.

So here is a bit of a photo dump from the last few days, starting with the brilliant Kerry budden totally rocking our pink Resting Beach Face tee - thank you Kerry!!

Other highlights include a visit to new Japanese drinks spot Umibo’ Drinks Lab in Broadstairs, Margo Mc Daid making the best summer neighbour and Thanet generally looking totally lush in the sun.

We are open in Margate tomorrow and through the weekend so pop in and say hi and we can have a chat about how hot we’ve all been 🤣🤣🤣
