Tech womble alert

Four years into having the shop and I’m still learning… especially when it comes to Instagram 😂

I love styling the shop, moving things around and taking photos of all the beautiful things we have in here. That bit I can happily spend ages doing.

Then comes the Instagram bit… and honestly, it’s a job in itself! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

I’ve been having a little play around with carousels and now I’m wondering… does Instagram prefer a carousel of photos or little videos?! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Four years in and I’m still winging the techy side of things 😂

So while I’m asking… is there anything you’d like to see more of, or less of, on here?
I’d genuinely love to know.

Now… back to faffing about with the shop, which is much more in my comfort zone!

A little re-introduction… because we’ve realised we don’t actually do this very often.

We’re Laura & Stacey, the two behind Ssnug Living. Four years ago we opened the shop, taking a bit of a risk and honestly not knowing where it would take us.

Our love for handmade started with our own brand, Dragonfly & Co, making home fragrance and jewellery, and that love has grown into what Ssnug is today.

We’ve slowly curated the shop into our happy space. A place full of lovely things, lots of individual makers and, hopefully, a space that feels welcoming when you walk through the door.

One of our favourite things is hearing the comments from our regulars…
“It always smells so lovely in here.”
“It’s such a chilled, welcoming space.”
And then there are the new customers who find us for the first time and say, “I can’t believe we’ve only just found you” or “We’ll definitely be back now we know you’re here.”

Those little comments honestly mean so much.

There’s also a bit of an idea that owning your own shop must mean choosing your own hours and doing something you love, so it can’t really feel like work…

We wish! 😂

Yes, we absolutely love it. But it’s hard work.

If we’re not in the shop, we’re in the studio, working online, taking photos, sorting stock, doing the behind-the-scenes stuff, replying to messages, paperwork, displays… there’s always something that needs doing.

But would we change it?

Nope.

Four years in, we’re still learning, still changing things, still finding new makers and still loving seeing people discover Ssnug for the first time.

Current obsession…

this autumn colour palette 🍂

I’m loving all the warm oranges, golden tones and those deeper autumn colours coming through the shop at the moment 🧡.

It just feels so cosy in here right now… definitely my favourite time of year for changing things around.

October in Ssnug Living 🍂

1st of October already… where has September gone?!

I’ve been gathering all the autumn bits and bobs over the last couple of weeks and slowly putting everything together in the shop. The colours, dried flowers and all the cosy little touches are definitely making it feel like autumn in here now 🤎

The ber months …🍂

It’s definitely the time of year when I start wanting the house to smell all cosy again. Candles on, wax melts going and the reed diffusers topped up.

Our Dragonfly & Co home fragrance is all handmade by us, with lots of lovely scents to choose from. I’ve got a few favourites that I always go back to, but I do love changing things up with the seasons too.

And yes… we’re already thinking about those Christmas scents 👀😂

Jewellery made from pieces of the sea 🌊

Natalie from Zephyr Jewellery collects pieces of sea glass from beaches around the country and turns them into jewellery, using lots of different colours and shades. No two pieces are quite the same.

I really like the story behind these too, taking something that’s been washed up on the beach and turning it into something you can wear.

There are necklaces, earrings and different chain options to have a look through.

You’ll find them tucked in amongst all the other little treasures in the shop 😊

It’s Friday, the shop is looking lovely and full, and we thought it was about time we introduced you to one of our newest makers Aya & Stone

We’ve got some gorgeous handmade pieces from Aya & Stone now in the shop.

Aya started creating as a little creative outlet alongside her full-time job, experimenting with Jesmonite and seeing where it took her… and we’re so glad it led her to us!

There are some really lovely pieces to have a mooch through, so if you’re out and about in Market Harborough today, pop in and take a look.
