Do you ever see a spice wall display and think to yourself, I don’t even know what half of these are for ?? (Me too 😂)
Well we thought it was time to shine a light on some of our less glamorous but more practical products and what better to do it than work through the alphabet ☺️
So to begin this fascinating refill round up we will begin with Allspice 😊
Allspice is the dried, unripe berry of the Pimenta dioica tree which is native to the tropical forests of the Caribbean, southern Mexico, and Central America
Now don’t be fooled by the name. Allspice is not a mix, it is a single spice that has hints of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg which brings warm, peppery sweetness to recipes. This is often used in Caribbean jerk seasoning but is also great in cakes, biscuits, stews and sauces. Just a pinch adds depth and aroma that lingers.
A great kitchen essential for cooks who like their flavours bold and balanced
So if you have spotted a recipe that includes this and fancy giving it a go pop in and stock up 😊
