A stylised abstract landscape this week with haybales and the hills of Fife. Painted in 2009 it has influences from Braque, Cezanne, Villon and the Fauvres ( for the art buffs among you) Something seem not right about this painting? That's because the normal rules of aerial perspective have been distorted. Things you expect to be in the distance i.e. the hill is as bright and clear as items in the foreground. In fact the foreground might be less clear. What do you see and think? Acrylic on card. 63 x 47 cm unframed.

Painted May/June 2020 shortly after the killing of George Floyd. The black(actually very dark purple) provides a link to the Black Panther movement and the black gloved hand in the famous photo of Tommy Smith and John Carlos at the 1968 Mexico Olympic Games. The raised fist is a global symbol of the fight against oppression, anti-fascism and racism. The red figure evokes the much used quote "When we bleed, we all bleed the same colour" Painted in acrylics on canvas, size 80 x 100 cm
