Urgent Appeal
Every year ones of Haggi are brought into Knoxwood after illegally crossing the Scottish border.
He is called Jim, he likes our rock buns.
We need to raise enough money to buy Jim a plane ticket and passport back to Gretna.
Anything raised over the cost of Jim's travel will go directly to the big Knoxwood Wildlife Intensive Care Unit Appeal.

"Summer" appeal! (This is not a crow, he is a RAVEN! his story is at the bottom)
Well, that was fun... Glenn and I spent last night fishing soggy birds out of rapidly flooding aviaries.
Thankfully, everyone is ok and moved to dry accommodation. We have clothes and boots drying everywhere and the ducklings were outraged that we brought them in from their new lake for the night (their outside pen which is now underwater) So... onto our "summer" appeal!
Once again we are asking for your help. I'm sure you are all sick to death of how expensive everything is, we can't believe how bad it is either.
We have volunteers breaking their hearts trying to raise funds for us, new and old volunteers coming in to muck out (we have a waiting list for the sanctuary, thank you all so much) we have cut back, scrimped, spent hours on the phone finding cheap deals and alternatives but because of the time of year we are burning through money with all the wildlife coming in.

The guy in the picture... Is a baby raven.
He was brought in concussed, starving and unable to fly. All of his muscles have wasted away with hunger and he is very uncoordinated. Don't worry about the eye, that's his 3rd eyelid over the lens. It was little bit slow due to concussion when the photo was taken but it is now working well.
He still can't fly, but is exercising his muscles in a flight aviary and eating his bodyweight daily. He has as long as he needs with us for rehab.

We have had so many messages asking if we are open for visitors this week.
Before COVID and avian flu, we used to allow visitors around the site, but we have made a balanced decision and have decided not to re-open to the public. (Unless we have a special open day or fundraising day) Wildlife casualties are still welcome as always!)
There are many reasons for this, there are still huge concerns over avian flu, we have to be insured and that costs more than the donations we raise by being open, we have to have extra staff on to supervise, which is a further expense but the main reason is simply that the wildlife does better without visitors.
We even have more species making their homes here. We are very sorry that this will be a disappointment to those wishing to visit.
(Wildlife casualties as normal, as always: If you have injured wildlife just come on down between 8am and 8pm and ring the gate bell)

We are still open! We have all our fingers crossed that the road will finally be re open this week.

At the moment we are currently very low on bric a brac!
If anyone is having a spring sort out please keep us in mind if you have anything you no longer want or need 🌸🌼

New website! Check it out and keep updated 🦝🦊

It's not finished yet...
But Emma has been beavering away with our new website each evening!
It is already working well for us, visitors are reading the news section and even signing up for monthly direct debit donations and our mailing list!
She is still adding to it (in between everything else) but check it out!

WE ARE STILL OPEN!

Senhouse Street is closed for a couple of weeks but we are still open!!

We are still accepting donations, but be mindful that there is no vehicle access to the shop at the moment
