This is the reverse of the tapestry we reframed in the last post, this demonstrates why it's worth framing with uv protective glass, look how bright the colours were on the rear, where the sunlight hadn't affected it.

We reframed this old tapestry for a customer today, it measures 1.2 metres by 1.1metres. The original frame weighed an absolute ton, the glass in it was 3/8" thick and it was stretched on a frame that was made out of 2.5" x 1" timber that was reinforced with a sheet of 1/2" thick plywood on the back of it, we could barely lift it on to the bench. It's now reframed and restretched using acid free materials, and now has non reflective and uv protective glass in it. # tapestry # framing

So this one is an experiment, a case frame I'm making for one of my own paintings, it can be stood on a shelf, or hung on a wall. There's still a lot of rubbing down and painting to do to get the finish right. I'll post the finished item when I get the artwork in it. The artwork aperture size is 230cm x 190cm.

We've been framing these family ski trip photos for a customer for about 8 years now. Each year he brings back photos, badges and ski maps which we drymount to mountboard and then cut out apertures for the photos. This is a great idea for remembering holidays, a map of the area and photos from the trip.
