It’s never too early for spooky season! As Hallowe’en draws just a little bit closer, we’re building up our collection of books for your little horrors! From the beautiful The Witch in the Tower, the second of The Three Sisters trilogy by Júlia Sardà and Oliver Jeffers’ wonderful There’s a Ghost in This House, to the brilliant Atlas of Spooky Places by Paige Towler - we have some magical children’s books for autumn. Spooky season is fast approaching, there’s definitely a chill in the evenings as they start to darken earlier, and in Stow the Galawe’en events are now online and ready for bookings! Here in Melrose, we’re also getting into the Halloween vibe and just in time a fun new book has appeared! Jockula is a darkly comic novel about a reluctant vampire in Edinburgh and we’re sure it will be a hit! Written by Galashiels-based writer Gayle Ramage, we’re very happy to promote another local writer!

It’s our fifth birthday today! Has it only been five years? Thank you to Tania and Pauline for creating this tiny gem of a bookshop, to Rebecca, who ran it for three years and to our new team of booksellers! Times are tough and so we thank all our wonderful customers from the Borders and beyond. Every town should have an independent bookshop and we are proud to be in the heart of . Pop in and have a cupcake and receive a free £5 National Book Tokens voucher for every customer. Here’s to the next five years!
