I love a dark, moody bloom 🖤

These scabiosa are like puffballs, so they need a little squish between the fingers before going into the press. Their detail is beautiful!

The rose I quickly pressed and then forgot about 👀

It’s kept a little of its colour, but the browning and fading in the centre is a reminder to babysit your flowers in the press.

AD | The prettiest new press from Berstuk 😍

This month I had the honour of working with this beautiful press and boy were the results amazing.

The square shape means you’re able to fit plenty of flowers into the press, but the panels are thicker and sturdier, so they supply much greater even pressure across them.

The press comes with everything you need to get started, including papers and dividers, is beautifully packaged and adorned, and would make the perfect gift for flower-enthusiasts.

Pressing Japanese anemone 😍 and what a beauty this one is!

I pressed this flower during one of the hottest days on record. I was also filming content for a flower press company and some of the flowers had been resting next to the press as I was filming so it had become a little wilted and had some browning before going into the press. Flower pressing emphasises imperfections.

The condition of your flower before pressing can contribute to the outcome and you can read more about this in my blog, ‘Picking a Flower for Pressing’ (link in my bio).

Even so, nature is full of imperfections and that’s the beauty of it, and the beauty of pressing too 🌸🌿

Easy to grow; easy to press 🌸 Cosmos is a firm summer favourite for pressing.

If you get the right pressure across the flower, you’ll prevent the petals from shrivelling.

Have you pressed cosmos this year?

AKA, a flower press 🌸

AD | Used by botanists and flower-enthusiasts, the field press is a lightweight tool used to press plants and flowers whilst out exploring.

Most of my presses are quite heavy and bulky, so I like to use this travel press by Berstuk to press whilst out and about. It comes with everything, down to the papers and dividers, and is incredibly easy to use when pressing on the go!

Did you know, Oshibana (the traditional method of flower pressing and arranging them into works of art) was practiced by samurai warriors to exercise their patience, focus and emotional calm.

The art of pressing flowers is so much more than simply placing them between pages. You can learn more about the process, the history of this beautiful art form and so much more at littlepressedflower.co.uk. Or simply use the link in my bio ☺️🌸

The prettiest clary sage pressed in my vintage tie press.

Despite having many presses to choose from, I often return to this press for small pressings. This salvia only took a week to press because it’s been so warm and dry here in the UK. I’ve needed to keep an eye on the humidity but the recent heatwave has sped up the pressing process.

Use the link in my bio to my blog, where you can learn more about the equipment I use or information like how long it takes a flower to press. Discover my online courses and guidebooks for my step-by-step methods in pressing to perfection.
