Still flowering and making the most of the days full of light and colour! Dahlias are happy, cosmos and zinnias are soldiering on, but beginning to slow now. We’ve had second and even third flushes of blooms, which has been gratefully received after such a tough summer.

Buckets of blooms have gone out to local florists and DIY flowers for events, as well as a few seasonal bouquets.

🍂 October 🍂 It’s a magical time of year with so much gorgeous colour and texture on the flower farm. Autumn wreaths are a firm favourite here. I love to gather goodies from our hedgerows, farm grown foliage, seed heads, berries and textural grasses. They are also a fantastic way to use flowers dried from the summer months!

An eerie low mist over the flower field this morning. Lottie dog was loving all the new sniffs after the annual meadow cut and I am slightly overwhelmed by all the flowers that have decided to appear with all the rain and sun we’ve had.

The dahlias have finally perked up, annuals are producing second flushes and there’s a whole lot of deadheading to do!

Lovely followers,
Due to some really rubbish life circumstances, we need to make a few changes for the rest of the season to be able to spend the time with loved ones.

We have some beautiful autumn flowers blooming but will be offering these at a reduced capacity so we can juggle other commitments.

Bunches, bouquets, buckets of flowers and wreaths remain available through the web shop for COLLECTION ONLY. There will no longer be any delivery options for the rest of the year - Please be patient in regard to replies to enquiries.

Florists and subscribers you should have received mail. Don’t forget to check junk.

• Our flower farm bunches will no longer be available to buy from Zen Rebel Studios cafe in Midsomer Norton. Have no fear, the lovely Ros from Primrose Florals will be stepping in - you may recognise Ros locally from her stall at Somerset Farmers Markets and the flowers she supplies to the Garden Centre in Chilcompton.

• There will be no more Pick Your Own flowers this season.

• Unfortunately, there will be no Christmas Wreath Workshops this year - I’m really sorry to those who have been asking and waiting patiently for the release dates.

• Shepton Mallet Sunday Market on 27th September will be the last market we attend this year.

On a happier note, here’s a lovely sunny gift bouquet from back in July. A reminder that when the world seems dark, nature is a super power, bringing us new life and hope, whilst working its magic!

Currently deep into next years planning, sowing, planting and prepping. It’s been an exhausting year - physically, mentally and personally, so it’s important to document how far we’ve come when the overwhelm kicks in… and when I say we, this mostly does just mean me.

What started as an empty field with really poor quality soil, huge bramble walls, invasive weeds and mounds of rubbish, is slowly being transformed.

Lots of perennials and shrubs are going into the ground this autumn. They have been patiently potted up over the years, many are divided from other perennials, others grown from cuttings and seeds. Hoping they will be able to lay deep enough roots in preparation for whatever next season throws our way.

No extensions are planned for next season. The focus is on maximising the current grow space, getting the perennials healthy and established, improving soil health, adding a lot more rainwater harvesting and most importantly and crucially install that darn irrigation!

As the late summer annuals peak and the season changes, bookings are being taken for your 2027 flowers and we are sowing in earnest for next year’s blooms.

Life continues, the familiar cycle brings comfort and with it hope of what’s to come.
