We are the only bike shop on the island guaranteed to be open 7 days a week throughout the year. We are right in the centre of town, opposite the Crazy Golf and the flagpole, so it is easy to find us. Our toy shop is well known for its traditional feel with a huge selection of toys and games to suit all ages, including brands such as Lego, Fisher-Price, Bruder, Revell, and Crayola all at incredibly competitive prices. Please feel free to come and browse our extensive range of toys, jokes, and games on offer. Our trick and joke counter is a magnet for children, adults, and school groups alike. If not for toys why not call in and hire any of our wide range of bikes to suit all ages and abilities. From a round island rate of only £12.00 to a full day at £14.00. Our rates also encompass weekend and weekly hires. Our hire fleet of over 400 bikes is maintained to Gold Velotech standard and bikes are updated regularly. All are fitted with 'gel' saddles to provide maximum comfort. Often referred to as the "Bicycle Island" as there are so many bikes of all shapes and sizes available for hire. The Isle of Cumbrae is a cyclist's paradise. The road around the island is almost completely flat and an easy route for all the family.

Saturday wasn't just another busy day... as far as we know, it was the busiest day in Mapes of Millport's 80-year history.

The queues were long, the workshop was flat out, the phones never stopped ringing, and our hire fleet barely stood still. But what made Deborah and I proud wasn't how busy we were—it was how our team responded.

Every single member of the team stepped up.

They looked after our customers with professionalism, patience and a smile, they supported one another throughout the day, and they never stopped working until the last customer had been looked after.

Was it challenging? Absolutely.

Did we get through it? We certainly did.

Seeing reviews like Brian's tells us we achieved exactly what we set out to do—making sure every customer still received the level of service we'd expect ourselves.

A huge thank you to William, Edward, Adam, Olachan, David, Liam, Charlie and Finnan. You should all be incredibly proud of what you achieved.

And finally, thank you to every single customer who visited us, queued patiently, smiled, and made our busiest day in 80 years one to remember.

What a bit of news for Millport! 🎉

We’re absolutely delighted to share that Mapes of Millport has been named a finalist in the Scottish Thistle Awards for Best Outdoor or Adventure Experience.

Even better, our good friends at are also finalists too — which means two Millport businesses will be proudly represented.

We’ll let them announce their own exciting details once they’ve had time to recover from what was honestly one of the best weddings we’ve ever been at 💒🥂
