Christmas is round the corner, and as always, I’m diving into our fabric scraps! Every year, I bring out our vibrant African prints and use them collage-style, transforming them into something beautiful. I love how each piece finds a new purpose, and it’s always a joy to see what we can create with what we have.

This year, though, I’m trying something a little different. Instead of buying new polystyrene baubles, I’m upcycling the traditional ones (big thanks to a lovely friend for the suggestion!). Not only is it a bit more eco-friendly, but I think these baubles turned out pretty amazing!

🌍💚 The impact of fabric waste is mind-blowing! In the UK, around 1 million tonnes of textiles are discarded each year, with 350,000 tonnes ending up in landfills. Here’s why it matters:

- Environmental Harm: Decomposing textiles release harmful methane gas.
- Slow Decomposition: Synthetic fibers can take hundreds of years to break down.
- Chemical Leaching: Dyes and chemicals can contaminate soil and groundwater.
- Lost Opportunities: Valuable textiles could be recycled or repurposed.

Although we are small, we are committed to finding ways to use off-cuts from old product lines to create new things! Here are some of the products we’ve created, with a new collection to follow. 🌱♻️

What can you do?
- Recycle: Use clothing banks and recycling programs.
- Buy Smart: Choose sustainable, high-quality clothes.
- Donate: Give unwanted garments to charity shops.
- Support: Encourage brands adopting sustainable practices.

Together, we can reduce fabric waste and its environmental impact.
