Village halls tend to give their floors a hard time by getting as much use from the floor as possible and often depend upon a full booking schedule to keep revenue flowing. Used for sports, social functions and all sorts of activities including frequent use of tables, chairs, other furniture and equipment. Even so, a solid hardwood floor will last them for decades given proper care and maintenance. They really make their floors work hard, but that’s what a solid hardwood floor is designed to do. Of course, the floor will show signs of use, the surface finish will wear, dents and scratches will appear, but solid hardwood floors are actually quite hard to destroy and can be refurbished many times over.
This image shows Wesley village hall in Elmswell where Capital Floors Ltd installed our 22 mm Sylvatech Beech floor, fitted over New Era undercarriage system. With the work carried out by one of our Approved Contractors, the floor holds a 25-year warranty and will be subject to regular inspections and maintenance work to keep it in tip-top shape for decades.

New sports and activity flooring can cut school energy costs by up to 70%.

An article earlier this year in Contract Flooring Journal highlighted new embodied carbon targets for school buildings, including a maximum embodied carbon figure of 550kg CO2e/m² across 200 new schools planned in England over the next five years.

One of the big conversations within the article was around long lifespan materials and biogenic carbon storage through timber flooring.

That’s one of the reasons we continue to work with Junckers Flooring across education environments.

It’s positive to see more attention being given to flooring specification at design stage, especially in spaces where durability, sustainability, and long term performance all matter.
