Another great story linked to Eastchurch.

17 June 1912 Petty Officer First Class Reginald Marix RNVR wrote a letter to the Commanding Officer HMS President, requesting to join Naval Wing of the Royal Flying Corps.

The request was accepted and Marix was posted to HMS Actaeon in November. Marix later became one of the leading RNAS pilots during WWI (see note)
