Tonight I bring you good news and not such good news.
Good news- today's open day has been one of my favourite. It's been a really long week and hearing such wonderful comments and seeing so many children today coming back for more books after previously not finding what's right for them elsewhere is just something I can't put into words.
To be apart of your reading journey is genuinely such an honour.
Particularly those of you who are now reading after trying symbolised or dyslexia friendly books proving that the barrier to reading is sometimes just not having the right material to start with.
(I've got a few posts about those coming up)
Not so good news..
As many of you know this exact time last year when we launched the Grotto range our website came under attack from a competitor. Sadly, this launch weekend and the lead up to it the nonsense has started again.
The website itself is fine thanks to some very hardwork by clever tech people but we are getting loads of fake user accounts daily which we are dealing with and attacks on our social media including our Instagram account being repeatedly reported for no reason. This has now meant we cannot share links to the website not even in our bio.
So we won't launch the Grotto range tonight just incase stupid games start and will hold off until business hours so professional support is available.
This is such an incredible industry to be a part of and there is enough room for many booksellers supporting children to read, in fact we've actually helped lots of new book business get started over the past year so this particular sabotage attempt is really nothing short of pathetic.
If you notice anything on our social pages or on the website you think isn't right please do let me know, I would really appreciate that.
Anyway let's end on a good note - remember Flopsy the bunny who got left behind and had to chill out reading at Books for Bugs, she came back to visit today with her lovely family and I now have a beautiful handmade thank you card on my desk π
