Always been intrigued by this Pictish lad from Burghead with his grumpy look and petted lip...

So where better to try and recreate and reconstruct the whole image than at Burghead tomorrow at the Northern Picts Open Day!
I've scratched my proposed design onto a sandstone slab using a TCT scribing tool.

Tours of the dig, metal working, leather craft, pottery and stone carving demos, 10-4. Not to be missed if you can make it!

A 120cm house-sign in my local stone (sandstone from Denfind Stone). Hand-cut letters.

A jesmonite ac100 cast of the Portmahomack wreath boss. There are a few of these hanging on the walls of those lucky enough to have one! (I have one…).

This was carved in sandstone as part of a Leverhulme trust project with the incredible Dr Cynthia Thickpenny.
