A very special delivery for Waters Edge arrived last week from the lovely Nicola Seal of Seal Ceramics who works from her home studio in Westhill, Aberdeenshire - ceramic jellyfish and smoked seals 🤗

Nicola is a self-taught potter who creates hand-built pottery. Working without the use of a pottery wheel, her wonderful seals and jellyfish reflect the imperfections and asymmetry of nature with each one different to the last creating special individual pieces - beautiful!

You’ve been loving the recycled climbing rope bracelets from Aberdeen’s Forma Designs - so much so, we’ve had to get a restock back in along with the colourful heart keyrings too 🤩

Taking waste materials and upcycling them into durable products designed to last in everyday use, Forma’s ethos resonated with us completely.

George, founder of Forma Designs Collective explains, “upcycling means keeping as much of the original material’s strength, structure, and story as possible, while turning it into something new.”

Exciting additions to the shop 🤩 We’ve not had a chance to get the photos up yet but keep your eyes peeled this week for what’s arrived in from the lovely Annie’s Shed, made right here in Johnshaven! 🤩

Delighted to say that some of my pieces are now for sale in the wonderful Johnshaven gift shop - Waters Edge!
On my table just now several potential fish. Might find fins in my box of 'heavy material' (bits of lino, carpet, sailcloth, rubber etc, all found on the local beaches).

** MEET THE ARTISTS **

At Waters Edge: Gift Shop & Gallery, we are delighted to be working with a range of local artists to offer original paintings for sale.

INTRODUCING Kate and Liz pope

Twin sister duo Liz & Kate work together to create vibrant and colourful mixed media paintings with elements of collage using colourful papers - when we opened Waters Edge: Gift Shop & Gallery we knew we just had to ask if they’d create some special pieces to capture the wonderful fishing village of Johnshaven and they said yes!!

You can find their four originals for sale featuring the village harbour, Beach Road, Fisherman’s cottages and beautiful boats alongside prints, cards, postcards and bookmarks with colourful magnets and coasters to follow shortly!

We’re doing a wee showcase over the summer weeks of who’s work you can see on the walls of Waters Edge just now so do keep an eye out for the stunning works of these talented painters and come along to see the paintings up close with all their painterly marks and techniques. These absolutely WONDERFUL WONDERFUL ceramic hares are made by the lovely Kim of Kim Anson and keep hopping out to their new homes as soon as they arrive in before we manage to get photos 🤭

With the latest arrival at Waters Edge: Gift Shop & Gallery coming in this week, we took one on a shoreline adventure before he took rest in the window to welcome customers in 🥰
