I have been hopeless at posting so I am making it my aim in 2025 to do better at this. So here’s the first of the bigger projects that have been in new temporary shop in the last month!

This PJ bass came in needing some serious over haul.
Action that could only be described as Herculean, lifted frets with sprouted ends, a nut that had seen better days, stiff tuners and some naff electronics.

First port of call was removing the neck, taking out the tuners and reseating the guide on them to tighten them up, removed and cleaned the truss rod end, straightening the neck with a carpenters straight end he and clamps.

After that, all the frets were reseated and levelled, and the sprouts were taken care of. This brought the neck relief and any bad frets into order for the next stage.

Fresh CTS pots, switch craft jack and orange drop cap was the next fix which really brought the bass to life.

Next a new bone nut to replace the plastic one, which sounds so much better and holds tuner nicer. Finally a set up in E with 50-105. Please like a dream

First up of the Theo Bleak guitars is their Squier Classic Vibes mustang bass. When it got dropped off mark commented that the A string made an unsavoury rattle and the action was a bit too high.

But after a few passes of the nut file and some fresh strings at a more appropriate gauge, the rattle is resolved! Break angle behind the nut can create all sorts of nasty noise and rattles that are otherwise hard to define!

Back in the shop and realising that I’ve been crap at posting since touring came back so here we are!

First up this takamine that came in for some serious set up work and a new battery clip.

When it arrived I could put my pinky under the strings at the 12th fret. A combination of high action at the nut; the saddle and too much relief in the neck. A few turns of the truss rod, a few passes of some nut files and sanding the saddle and it’s good as new!

Hello all!

I have returned from touring and the shop is open now until the 20th of January. Pickups will be running as of next weekend, Friday evening most likely. Book in now to avoid disappointment. The shop has also been refurbished in this time for some extra working space.

Finished the original dip last week. This was originally my first ever guitar and I am very stoked on how it turned out.

I left the hardware stock; but I changed out all the electronics to the following spec.

Pickups - DiMarzio Tone zone (bridge), Evolution (middle) And Air Norton S (neck)

CTS pots, switchcraft jack and an fender super switch to allow me to get the following options;

Pos 1: Bridge
Pos 2: bridge north and middle
Pos 3: bridge north and neck south
Pos 4: middle and neck north
Pos 5: neck

A big old tasty, set up in E with 9-46 because I’m old now.

Once again I am p**s poor at posting but I am beavering away in the shop repairing, but this deserves a big old post.

So this is another one of the dips I’ve been working on. We put this together in an homage to the EVH stripes guitars and I’m really happy with how it came out. It stated as a basic squier strat and now it’s a big beast! Here’s a list of the specs:

- Fender Locking Tuners
- Synthetic bone nut
- Seymour Duncan Full Shred Set
- Schaller mega switch
- Graphtech saddles
- CTS volume and no load tone pot

It also got a fret level and a set up in E with 9-46 D’addario Nyxl.

Finished my first dip project after a lot of trial and error for my pal Steve. I told him I was gonna do it, then he ordered some parts to the house and hopefully a guitar came out at the other end.
