When was the last time you got together with friends in person?

Cue cringe. It’s probably longer than you thought, right?

I was messaging with my friend Susan yesterday. We spent a wonderful weekend together in Milan back in May.

And we realised we haven’t actually seen each other since.

We swap messages. We like each other’s posts. We promise to catch up soon.

Are we keeping in touch, or are we just keeping up?

Nothing beats sitting around a table, sharing stories and spending time together.

That’s exactly what my private tea tasting experiences are all about.

They give friends a reason to put a date in the diary, gather around a table and create new memories over a pot of tea… or three.

So let’s ditch the cringe.

If there’s a group of friends you’ve been meaning to get together, I’d love to help you make it happen.

You don’t need to know anything about tea to come to Tea Social.

In fact, one of the guests at my last Tea Social hadn’t had a hot drink in 15 years.

So why did he come?

Curiosity.

He wanted to see what tea could offer and spend a Sunday morning meeting new people.

That’s all I ask of anyone who comes along - bring your curiosity.

Tea lovers, tea beginners and even tea sceptics are all welcome.

Last week was my busiest of the year with a Tea Social last Sunday morning, a Veterans Tribe Scotland Wellbeing event on Thursday and then a private tea tasting on Saturday afternoon.

I definitely celebrated with a day of rest yesterday!

As I do more of these events, they’re each beginning to develop their own signature style.

Tea Social is an individually ticketed gathering in the gorgeous PekoeTea Edinburgh studio, with a bright and relaxed atmosphere that’s great for meeting new people.

I’ve been working with Veterans Tribe Scotland for 4 years now, so we’re a well established group who enjoy tasting different teas each time we meet and have a lot of fun pairing them with different cakes and biscuits.

At a private tea tasting, I’m usually the stranger amongst friends who gather - often once in a blue moon - and catch up on all sorts of news and happenings for a few hours.

All very different groups with different conversations and different reasons for being there.

Tea as the reason for gathering.

It doesn’t dominate but it does create space for everyone to connect, slow down, laugh, share stories and enjoy being together.

That’s why I say I’m not in the tea business.

I’m in the events business.

I create tea tasting experiences, and every group makes them their own.

Which of those three sounds most like your kind of afternoon?

A tea tasting isn’t all about learning to identify flavours.

I mean, yes, we do that.

But so much more happens around the table.

There are questions. Stories. Fun and laughter. And almost always that moment when someone says, ā€œI’ve never noticed that before.ā€

Tea gives us something to focus on, but it’s the conversation that people remember.

Yesterday’s tasting with Veterans Tribe was another reminder of that.

If you bring people together -whether that’s a community group, charity, membership organisation or team - you’ll know that the best events aren’t just well attended. They’re the ones where people genuinely connect.

I’m always happy to chat with organisers who are looking for a different way to spark conversation and create that kind of connection.

Drop me a message if that sounds like the sort of experience your group could enjoy.

Turns out Sunday mornings really were made for Tea Socials.

There was plenty of tea, of course.

We explored three very different teas, compared tasting notes and chatted about everything from brewing in glass teapots to our favourite ways we enjoy tea at home.

People arrived as strangers and left having shared stories, laughter and made some new discoveries.

I even managed to get a few photographs (with some help šŸ˜‰).

Every Tea Social is a little different because every group brings something different to the table. And of course I serve different teas.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such an enjoyable morning.

If it sounds like something you’d enjoy trying then the next one is booking now.

This is where we’ll be gathering for Tea Social: Sunday Edition at the weekend.

Something I’ve noticed is a genuine desire to do more things in person.

Meet new people.
Have interesting conversations.
Spend less time scrolling and more time connecting.

I know. Easier said than done.
It’s hard to get an event out of the group chat and into the diary.

Not everyone has friends available on the same day.
Not everyone wants to organise something themselves.
And not everyone wants to walk into a room full of strangers.

Tea Social is my attempt to make that a little easier.

A small group.
A welcoming table.
Good tea.
And good conversation.

Five people have already booked to join us on Sunday and I’m looking forward to seeing who else takes a seat around the table.

If you fancy that, come and join us.
Tickets via Eventbrite. Link in bio.

Are you looking to reclaim some of your weekend?

It’s meant to be a break, but somehow it turns into catching up on everything you didn’t do during the week.

Tea Social: Sunday Edition is my rebellion against that.

Time to gather, sip tea and have conversations that aren’t interrupted by notifications, shopping lists or work emails.

A slower start to the day.

If that appeals, then I’d love you to join us.

The details:
Sunday 28 June
11am - 12.15pm
PekoeTea Edinburgh Studio, 11 Leith Walk, Edinburgh
Maximum 10 guests

14/06/2026

One of the questions I hear most often is:

ā€œWill everyone already know each other?ā€

Usually not.

Tea just makes it easier to start the conversation.

I’ve been thinking about what makes people come back to tea events.

It’s not the tasting notes. Though those can be fascinating.

Or learning how tea is made. Though people often enjoy that too.

What people talk about afterwards is who they met, the conversations they had, and how they spent their time.

That’s why I’m excited to be launching a new series of Sunday Morning Tea Socials.

Bright, sociable gatherings with good tea and good company.

No presentation.

No tea expertise required.

Just a welcoming space to spend a Sunday morning chatting, meeting new people and enjoying a pot of tea together.

The last Sunday of the month, 11am.

First dates are:

28 June

26 July

30 August

If that sounds like your kind of Sunday morning, I’d love to see you there.

What makes a good Sunday morning?

For me, it’s not necessarily staying in bed until noon.

And it’s not rushing around trying to cram every possible thing into the weekend either.

It’s getting out of the house.

Seeing people.

Having a good conversation.

Doing something enjoyable without watching the clock.

I’ve been thinking about this recently as I’ve been planning a new series of Sunday morning tea socials.

Not because everyone needs more tea (though that helps).

But because I think we could all use more opportunities to spend time together.

What makes a good Sunday morning for you?
