Hello to all the new faces around here 👋🏻 I thought it was time to reintroduce myself 🤠 (long post strap in)
I’m Saffron and I run Ty Picl, a little independent jewellery brand, and I’ve just opened a stall in .market! 💕
I’ve always had a love for anything creative. After graduating from my Fine Art degree, I was really lucky to work for a lovely jewellery shop in Bath called Honey Willow, where I completely fell in love with the process of making jewellery 🔨
I moved to Cardiff in 2020 and went back to illustration, which has always been a big part of what I do. All the logos, greeting cards and prints you see are designed and drawn by me 🧚🏻♀️
I launched Ty Picl just two years ago during a really turbulent time in my life. The name means “Pickle’s house” in Welsh, named after my little chihuahua Pickle - who’s probably barked at you if you’ve come to say hi 😅
Most of you have probably met me at a market. I did my very first one with and met so many wonderful people there. I still do each month, and it was with .collectives that I started dreaming of shops. I even did a pop-up at Goodsheds and loads of lovely markets in cool spots like Newport Market 💕
Our tagline is "not your typical jewellery” because I want every piece to feel personal. Everything’s made by hand, just by me. One of my most popular ranges is the molten collection, which actually started when I had no money for new materials and was working out of my best mate’s spare room. I started melting down scraps and experimenting with the forms - and now it’s a bestseller 🔥 I really believe creativity thrives when you work with your limitations 💕
My work often features raw gemstones and rock-inspired textures, and you’ll probably notice I use rocks to display a lot of pieces too. That’s thanks to my fiancé Charles, who’s just finished his PhD in geology. We both love rock hunting and I love including more unusual rocks and minerals in your jewellery 🌟
