There’ll be lots of us catching up with friends and family who’ve travelled home for the weekend to celebrate one of Nairn’s most special days — and I’ve been far too busy catching up with these two to post earlier! 🥰 Reunited again!😁

👋 Hiya, we’ve had loads of new followers recently, so it seems like a good time to introduce myself.

I’m Iona, owner of Crafty Wee Birdie, an independent gift shop on The Brae, just at the bottom of Nairn High Street in the Scottish Highlands. I opened the shop almost 11 years ago now. I’m a Nairn lass, but my husband, our two boys and I were living in Aberdeen before moving home when the opportunity to take on the shop came along.

The shop is packed with lovely things from Scottish makers, artists and designers, alongside a few carefully chosen brands from further afield. Supporting small creative businesses has always been a big part of what Crafty Wee Birdie is about. You’ll often find me in the shop, but if I’m not there, chances are I’m at home ordering stock, doing paperwork, updating the website or making our tartan bracelets. There are loads of other wee jobs that come with running a small business!

Thankfully, I don’t do it all myself. Kimberley is a huge part of Crafty Wee Birdie too and you’ll often find her holding the fort in the shop. I’d be completely lost without her!

What a busy Monday it’s been! 🥰 So many lovely visitors through the door today, lots of them enjoying their travels around Scotland and taking a little piece of it home with them. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 This gorgeous Bumblebead Crafts thistle brooch feels very appropriate today!

We love hearing where everyone has travelled from and where they’re heading next. And as always, very grateful they’ve found their way to our wee shop.

honestly can't tell you how lovely it has been seeing these messages pop into my inbox over the last couple of days. 🥹🐦
Our very first Card Collection has started landing on doormats and the feedback has been so heartwarming. From messages telling me the cards arrived safely, to photos being shared on Instagram, and emails saying they "did not disappoint"... thank you. It means such a lot that you've trusted us with this new idea, and I'm so happy you're loving the beautiful Juniper Press cards as much as we do.

Leaving The Brae after so many years will be a real wrench, but seeing so many of you excited for this next chapter has made me feel even more confident that we're making the right decision.
