Every yard's Secret Santa ends the same way: socks. So we ranked this year's lot honestly, at the kitchen table. Horse motifs, or cow, pig, goat and duck? One of these is landing in your yard this December, and somebody has to be brave enough to say which. Tell us: which pair would you actually keep?

Some gifts get a polite laugh and vanish into a drawer. The useful ones get worn every single day.

Our Gifts for Farmers & Country Folk are chosen for the person who actually lives and works in the countryside - socks, homeware and everyday finds that earn their keep long after the wrapping paper is gone.

Shopping for someone who is hard to buy for? Start with the collection and thank yourself later.

Dark mornings and wet paws are part of autumn with a dog. Five small changes we make every year: 1) Reflectives or hi-vis on the lead and collar. 2) A mat, towel and boot tray by the door. 3) A warm coat for short-haired dogs on cold snaps. 4) Rinse and dry paws after wet walks. 5) A cosy, dry spot to settle afterwards. Save this for the months ahead - find more in our Gifts for Dog Lovers edit.

Buying for a horse lover when you know nothing about horses? You're not alone - and you're in good company here.

Here's the gentle way in: start with what they'd use every day, lean towards something personalised, and don't be shy about asking the horse's name. That last one tells you more than any gift guide.

Tell us who you're buying for in the comments and we'll point you towards something they'll genuinely love. For life in the country we love.

That chewed slipper? Not naughty. Bored. Chewing, digging, or following you room to room at 9pm aren't bad behaviour - they're your dog asking for more to do. Sniff games, a frozen stuffed toy, or ten minutes of training all count. Enrichment isn't extra work; it's the difference between a settled dog and a shredded cushion. Which of the three does yours do most?

Mornings in the yard are the best kind - the first breath of cold air, the gate creak, a rug on before turnout. However your day begins, we'd love to hear it.

So tell us: what's your morning routine with your horse or dog? And if you're shopping for someone who lives for country mornings, our turnout rugs and everyday country finds are a good place to start.
