Bring a little colour to your garden this winter 🌿

As we head into winter, the garden can start to look a little bare and grey. So why not add some colour that will last all year round?

I love creating glass garden ornaments that bring a little sparkle and colour to outdoor spaces. From dragonflies and butterflies to poppies, flowers and colourful garden stakes, each piece is handmade and completely unique.

Glass catches the changing light beautifully, so even on a dull winter’s day, your garden can have a little flash of colour.

Whether you have a big garden, a small courtyard or just a few pots, there’s always room for a little glass art.

I grew up in Sweden and moved to the UK in 1995, following my heart, as I had fallen in love with an Englishman, John. We live in a small village in Hampshire with our two teenage sons. We met when we were both working for IBM – I spent 30 years working in IT as a technical leader, providing technical support and managing technical support groups.
People might assume I have left my technical background behind and ‘unleashed’ my creative side, but I actually think that in my role at IBM I was constantly having to be creative with my problem-solving … and working with glass is incredibly technical! So perhaps I like having a balance between being technical and creative, and I do thoroughly enjoy following design processes and working with clients to
realise their vision.
My background in the corporate world means I am used to working on projects and specifications and I am very client-focused – so I work in a structured manner, keeping you updated on the progress as well as keeping to deadlines! For larger items such as splashbacks or shower walls I generally suggest doing a 30x30cm ‘test tile’ first so that you really see what the final piece will look like. And, for some projects, it is a good idea to create a mood board, to see what will work best where the piece will be going and – for an indoor space – with the existing furnishings and décor, as well as understanding where the light, both natural and electric, comes into the room. I really enjoy working with people and seeing how my glass art can reflect (excuse the pun!) their personality and style.

Gifts I’ve been making 💙

I’ve been making some lovely bespoke gifts recently, including this organic lattice bowl.

Made in clear glass with accents in different shades of blue, the flowing lattice design gives the bowl a lovely organic feel. Once finished, it will make a beautiful and practical fruit bowl, adding a splash of colour to the kitchen or dining table.

I love creating pieces that are both unique and useful, and that have been made especially for the person receiving them.

Throughout all my projects, I provide clients with progress pictures so they can follow along and see their piece develop. I also offer clients the opportunity to get involved, whether that’s placing pieces of glass or even creating parts of the work themselves.

Gifts made with meaning ❤️

I’ve been making some lovely bespoke gifts recently, including this double patchwork heart, created especially for a couple.

The client gave me the colour schemes they wanted, along with the couple’s initials, and I turned their ideas into something completely unique.

The two hearts are slightly offset on different levels, with the initials and cross patches also raised and offset to create a lovely textured effect. Once finished, the hearts were mounted onto the glass of a double frame, creating a really special piece to display in their home.

I love being involved in creating gifts that have a personal meaning behind them. Throughout all my projects, I provide clients with progress pictures so they can follow along as their piece develops. I also offer the opportunity to get involved, whether that’s helping to place pieces of glass or even creating parts of the artwork themselves.

🎁 Gifts that are personal and completely unique

Here are three name plaques, each created to reflect the personality and interests of the person receiving it.

The textured glass catches the light beautifully, reflecting it both off and through the glass. Each plaque is offset mounted onto a black backing board, ready to hang on the wall.

The double name plaque was a special gift for a couple who were moving in together, making it a lovely way to mark the start of their new home and life together.

I love creating gifts that are made specifically for the person receiving them.

📸 New headshots!

I’ve finally had some new headshots done by the fabulous Gabriele Swift Photography , and I’m really pleased with the results.

Having your photo taken isn’t something I’m particularly good at, but Gabby made me feel completely comfortable and relaxed.

I’m so happy with how the photos have turned out and would definitely recommend her if you’re looking for a photographer who makes the whole experience easy and enjoyable.

💗 A special gift to mark a new chapter

This beautiful flowy pink heart was commissioned by a company as a retirement gift for a valued employee.

They provided me with a colour scheme and the special message they wanted to surround the heart, and I brought their ideas together in glass. The finished heart is mounted on a double frame, which beautifully showcases both the artwork and the personal message.

I love creating gifts that have a story behind them and are made especially for the recipient.
