**** We want your opinion ****

We already work with 2 local flower growers, 1 grower here in New Mills and 1 in Woodford. We would love to start having weekly bunches of locally grown, sustainable flowers for sale. Firstly, is this something you would like and purchase and how much would you expect to pay? These bunches are £16 each.

We will soon have the option of locally grown flowers for sale on our website (during the British flower season) for collection and delivery. We can now also supply these flowers as subscription flowers.

Please let me know what you think and your opinions 💐

This couple, this venue! 😍

I’ve been counting down to Dec & Kate’s wedding for what feels like forever, and on Friday they finally got to make their promises to one another surrounded by all their favourite people at the incredible Torr Vale Mill ❤️

Mr & Mrs A – what an absolute joy you’ve been. From the very first chat, it’s been such a pleasure getting to know you both, and I already miss being part of your wedding journey!

Can’t wait to see the official photos from Melly // Dark Peak Photography - it was so good working with you at last!

Huge congratulations , you gorgeous pair! ❤️

Have you ever asked AI how much those big direct cremation companies actually charge?

You might be surprised. Many use large central warehouses and transport your loved one across the country, yet they often cost hundreds of pounds more than you might expect. They're the ones you see advertising during Coronation Street.

My direct cremation service is just £1,200 – hundreds of pounds less than many of these large national providers, while still offering compassionate, personal care.

Before you choose, ask the questions. You may be surprised by the answers.

**** Appreciation Post ****

Our amazing apprentice, Lilly is just about to complete her Level 2 in Floristry. This was her creation at this weekends Wedding installation. I am super proud of how far Lilly has progressed in the last 18 months and this shows her natural talent! She worked along side us in the team and I’m sure you agree that she has done an amazing job! She has final assessments to complete and the she begins her Level 3! Well done Lilly…. You are doing amazing!!

Teaching the next generation in our industry is both a privilege and of the biggest importance. Floral Design and Floral Artistry is a very tough industry to be in but I really want to help bring talented and passionate people into the industry and for them to take floristry forward in whatever way they choose.

Dear Prime Minister Burnham,

Congratulations!

Now here's what you can do to help Small Businesses, the biggest employer in the UK and the most neglected and overlooked by all political parties.

3 things that would stimulate growth in SMEs, therefore creating jobs and boosting the economy:

1) Reform Corporation Tax.

It's currently a very blunt instrument. 19% for profits under £250k, 25% for profits above that. Why not introduce a tax free allowance for profits of up to say £10k, just like income tax? This would really allow some breathing space for the smallest companies and start ups. This could be funded by actually taxing companies like Starbucks, but it would probably pay for itself with those profits going back into growth, jobs and spending.

2) Reform Commercial Lease Legislation.

Not many people know that commercial landlords can basically let their properties fester, while domestic landlords are bound by (rightly) strict laws that enforce quality of living standards for tenants. Our landlord can legally get away with our Grade II listed building leaking, rotting, and being unsafe while we foot the bill to make it usable. To boot, lots of the public money in Towns Funds across the country has been used to improve privately owned properties, meaning these taxes have effectively gone back into the pockets of private landlords, boosting the value of their properties at the expense of the taxpayer.

Commercial landlords should be held to better standards. We've sunk around £25k into just making our building safe. We won't see any of that again, but our landlord will be able to lease it far more easily and for more money if he wants next time.

3) The Government should Fund Statutory Sick Pay again.

Since 2014 businesses have footed the bill for SSP, with no refund. Employees also accrue holiday pay while off sick. For a very small business this can be significant especially when understood in the context of the last 10 years of blow after blow financially. Fund sick pay again - it's hugely important for workers to have, but SMEs have become the new Welfare State.

I could go on Andy, but I think these 3 things, along with some of the ideas you're alluding to, could be a very good start.

Life would be dull and colourless without us. But we are dying by the day. Let's hope you help us.
