🌼 Wildflowers of the Shingle

The Coast Drive Treasure Trail may be over for another year, but the adventure certainly isn’t.

Dungeness is one of Britain’s most extraordinary landscapes, and right now the shingle is alive with colour. Hidden amongst the pebbles you’ll find resilient wildflowers like Sea Kale, Yellow Horned Poppy, Viper’s Bugloss and Kidney Vetch—each one playing a vital role in supporting butterflies, bees and countless other species.

It might look like a barren coastline at first glance, but take a slower walk and you’ll discover one of the richest wildflower habitats in the UK. Every flower tells a story, every pebble shelters life, and every visit reveals something new.

So whether you’re returning for another walk, bringing the family for a day by the sea, spotting wildlife, or simply enjoying the peace and quiet, there are still so many reasons to fall in love with Dungeness.

A few days on, we’re still smiling as we look back on what an incredible day the Coast Drive Treasure Trail turned out to be. ❤️

Once again, we’d like to say a huge thank you to every single person who took part. Whether you hosted a stall, opened your garden, volunteered, supported local businesses, or came along to explore, you all played a part in making the Treasure Trail possible and such a wonderful success.

The community spirit, kindness and support shown throughout the day was truly heartwarming, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Now for the big question… who’s up for the next one? 🌊✨

What an incredible day the Coast Drive Treasure Trail turned out to be.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to every single person who took part today – whether you opened your garden, hosted a stall, volunteered, donated, visited, shopped, shared a post, or simply came along to support our wonderful community. You all helped make today something truly special.

Seeing so many people exploring Dungeness, Lydd-on-Sea, Greatstone and Littlestone, discovering local makers, supporting small businesses, chatting with neighbours, and enjoying everything our beautiful stretch of coastline has to offer was exactly what we hoped for.

Today wasn’t just about treasure hunting – it was about celebrating our community, bringing people together, and reminding ourselves just how lucky we are to live in such a unique and welcoming place.

Thank you to everyone who travelled near and far to join us, and to every participant who put so much time, effort and heart into making their stop so welcoming.

We hope you made wonderful memories, found some hidden treasures, and left with a smile.
