With festival season in full swing in central Edinburgh, the city is awash with quirky comedians, interpretive dancers and unicycling jugglers. For some people however, this is all a bit too much and they seek refuge in some of Edinburgh's finest pubs, bars and taverns. When we heard that our American friend Adam was in town, it felt only right to show him round some of our favourite spots for a whisky in our fantastic home city. The emergence of vintage whisky as a collectable and alternative investment has unfortunately led to an increase in counterfeit whisky. With high value bottles such as this Macallan rarely being opened, this creates an opportunity for fraudsters to refill (genuine) empty bottles with inauthentic liquid; this bottle might then be re-sold several times, and in doing so losing all trace of the original con artist. Laurie and Ross are presented with a very rare opportunity to open and taste a bottle which has been rejected from auction due to authenticity concerns - will it be the real deal?

Very interesting stuff Gents. I'm unlikely to be in the market for such a bottle but its good to know Whisky Hammer (and other houses) have Quality Assurance at the heart of their business. From an educational and entertainment POV I'd be interested in similar videos on an ad hoc basis.

2025 is a special year for Scottish rugby stars Duhan van der Merwe and Pierre Schoeman, both called up to the British & Irish Lions squad for the current tour of Australia. To celebrate this incredible achievement, their whisky company Against The Grain has launched a new, limited edition bottling: Legacy Edition. Fully matured in red wine casks, the whisky has a bright red colour, reminiscent of the jerseys that Duhi and Schoey are proudly wearing! Laurie and Ross give this very special dram a try.

Cracking whisky and food gems all over this video but none more so than the vibe of Eorna. I loved the Rob Roy at the end made with The Thompson Brothers stella and ridiculous valued Blended Scotch Whisky. A dram that works beautifully on its own but know will be cocktailed.
