Just when you think things are quietening down, a new temptation appears… and you decide to take a punt! 🌿
Thanks to our friend Helen from Evolve, a British flower wholesaler, for making us aware of this crop of Hellebores looking for a new home.
Growing Hellebores as a cut flower is certainly a new venture for us, with lots to learn along the way!
We’re hoping they’ll prove to be the perfect crop to help fill that winter gap — for both us and Helen, who can now continue to supply her customers with these little jewels of the winter season. 🤞
Here’s to another new adventure… and hopefully plenty of beautiful winter blooms! 💚

Beautiful autumn days are bringing the very best from the field of dreams. 🌸🍂
That final flush of colour, a gentle reminder of just how beautiful British flowers can be. Grown with love, shaped by the seasons, and blooming beautifully right until the end. 🇬🇧🌿

The remarkable warm weather has given us some extra drying time for a few jewels from the field. ✨
The little round forms of Gomphrena dry beautifully, holding both their colour and shape. Grasses, Statice and Celosia were all gathered in yesterday, ready to be simply hung up to dry before being safely stored away for the winter.
Realising that our climate is rapidly changing, we’re planning to grow lots more flowers specifically for drying next year, as well as putting proper drying systems in place to make the whole process more efficient.
Hopefully, this will allow us to offer our dried flowers for sale throughout the winter next year too. 🌾

Inspired by a new planter, our yard has had a seasonal makeover. 🍂
With many of the summer tenders becoming past their best after months of glorious blooming, now is the perfect time to turn our thoughts towards the cooler months ahead.
Many of the tender perennials are making their way into the protection of the glasshouse for winter, while the annual bedding plants are winging their way to the compost heap — ready, one day, to return to the garden as rich, nourishing mulch.
Whilst we’re blessed with these glorious autumn days, it’s lovely to get these seasonal tasks completed and make the most of the sunshine.
Now we can look forward to pots filled with winter interest, bringing a little colour, texture and joy to those duller days ahead. 🌿🍁

A fabulous day at the Southwell Ploughing Match and Show. A pleasure to be part of the judging team with Jade and great to catch up with gardening friend John Stirland .
The floral art show bench was outstanding this year and the whole produce tent looked incredible .

Every British-grown bouquet has a story to tell. 🌿🌸
What you see as a beautiful gift bouquet starts months before it reaches your hands — from nurturing tiny seeds back in February, to growing them outside and following nature’s flow.

🌿 A little update about our upcoming Rooted In History Floral Festival at Hodsock Priory 🌿
Tickets are still available for our super-special VIP Saturday evening — and places are limited!
This exclusive evening will give guests the opportunity to enjoy a private tour and audience with house owner George Buchanan and our incredible floral designers, followed by an operatic floral catwalk. 🎶🌸
There’ll be fizz on arrival, delicious artisan grazing platters and, of course, plenty of beautiful flowers and floral inspiration.
We’re also super excited to welcome a very special guest that evening — the world-famous Master Florist Gregor Lersch from Germany. 🇩🇪🌿
Then on Sunday, get ready for a fantastic day celebrating floral talent and creativity.
✨ Floral catwalks twice throughout the day, showcasing incredible work from our selected designers.
✨ We’ll also be selling a selection of pieces from some of the incredible floral installations, giving you the chance to take a little piece of the festival home with you.
✨ Live talks and demonstrations throughout the day.
✨ And don’t forget our carefully selected retailers, who will be exhibiting throughout the weekend with lots to discover.

ow’s the time to start thinking about swapping your summer displays over to winter. 🌿❄️
Your summer displays may still be blooming beautifully, making it hard to think about the colder months ahead, but now is actually a great time to get your winter displays ready and waiting in the wings.
Getting them planted while it’s still relatively warm gives the plants time to push their roots down into the compost and become established before winter arrives. This will help them settle in and survive the colder months ahead.
Leave it too late, when plants have slowed or stopped growing, and your new display may simply sit still. The compost can also become too wet, leaving your plants looking rather sad.
Winter displays can be planted more densely than summer displays, as the plants won’t be competing as much for root space during the dormant winter period.
When placing your plants into the basket, try angling them slightly outwards. This helps winter rain run off more easily and, as a bonus, creates a much fuller and more attractive display.
So while your summer baskets are still putting on a show, it’s the perfect time to get your winter displays ready!

Chrysanthemum ‘Allouise Pink’ was presented in the usual way by Steven and given her very own vase. 🤣💐
She certainly knows how to make an entrance!
