Flying lessons have commenced for the young Barn Owls. How many can you see?

This is the other box, the one that the Tawny Owl and her two owlets occupied earlier in the spring.

The parents of the barn owlets in the last film in the triangular box, have been quite settled on a daily basis in this box for over a week now.

Their amorous behaviour suggests that maybe another clutch of owlets may be on the way this summer.

There certainly seems to be plenty of voles for them this year, we’ve lots of little vole holes developing all over!

A Barn Owl update, the owlets that were ringed a few weeks ago appear to be virtually fully grown and are very active in the box. We can certainly see three here in this film, whether the other smaller two owlets have thrived may never be known, unless we have opportunity to see them all at the same time.

The Nursery has now closed for the summer and will reopen in the autumn for winter hanging baskets, plants, bulbs and composts.

James and I would like to thank all of our longstanding and new customers for your support this spring season. It’s been our busiest ever and you’ve kept us really busy!

Here’s a few facts and figures for you!

We’ve potted up over 50,000 plants this spring season.

We made a record number of hanging baskets - 833 this year.

We were blown away with how many of you ordered Flower Bags, and despite planting more than last year we still ran out. We hope to be able to do more next year.

I looked at my steps this morning and since we started work for the spring season (beginning of March):

I have done a whopping 1,658,015 steps (that does say million 😳) and walked a massive 784 miles.

So, for now, we are just going to put our feet up for a bit and might look at the catalogue to see what we will grow again next year.

Thank you for your support. We wouldn’t be able to do what we enjoy doing if it wasn’t for your continued support.

A quick reminder that the nursery is closed today (Thursday 25th June) but will reopen tomorrow (Friday) for the last three days of our summer sale.

In the meantime, for all those people that I’d promised details of the Owl cameras and Owl boxes, I’ve updated our website with details of the ones we use and links to their sites. I’ve also added some of the pictures of this years owl broods and other info.

The excitement from the camera in the Tawny Box last night shows that both the male and female Barn Owl spent a considerable amount of time in there. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a second Barn Owl family soon.
