As I am a bit crowded in my shop I am reducing prices on some of my horse-size saddles in time for the hunting season. Around a dozen 17.5" & 18" saddles are now for sale for £300 or less.

They are very varied in style, width, colour and age (one or two are vintage) but they are all sound and good value.

Local fitting service available, or saddles can be taken on approval WITH FULL CASH DEPOSIT.

I don't usually grumble but I think I have the right to say this: if you want me to repair your tack please have the courtesy to bring it in reasonably clean. I don't expect spotless, that would be unrealistic , but working on filthy items is not pleasant and there really is such a thing as Health and Safety.

A few more saddles from the variety I currently have for sale -
Wide black 17.5"/18" Freedom Holistic treeless saddle, leather & suede. Straight cut, moveable knee rolls, very flexible £350.
Old Jeffries Falcon, 17", marked medium but I would say m/n, suit high withers. Very good quality and completely sound despite its age, bargain for someone at £150.
16" wide NSC pony saddle, brown leather & suede, straight cut gp/wh good enough for the show ring £400.

Museum of the Horse to Close! That could well be the heading if I can't raise sufficient funds to sustain it when I die. I am 81 this year. No one lives forever. It would be such a shame for such a comprehensive collection to be broken up. That is why I have organised this conference with three eminent, published speakers who are all generously giving their time free in aid of the museum to contribute to the fundraising. Tickets are £50, which not only includes a voucher for £20 to spend in our gallery on the day or on our stand at Burghley Horse Trials. but also includes coffee three times during the day, lunch, entertainment and a tour of the exhibition. I am almost paying you to come!! If you order tickets direct from the museum it will enable the museum to avoid the Eventbrite fees. I hope you are all just waiting until closer to the date to order. Please support us. Don't let this happen to the museum!

Now that the weather has cooled down a bit I have resumed This Week's Bargains and these two are like chalk and cheese!

Perfect show saddle for a cob type, 17" wide/xwide black Barnsby, gullet at front 6" so will suit low/no wither horse. Unusually has 5 girth straps to ensure a perfect fit! Not had much use so very good condition, £400.00

And . . . .

17" lightweight synthetic gp, 9.5" D-D with nylon girth straps, scruffy but sound, ideal breaking etc £50.00

Nick Creaton BHSI, Henrietta Barton, Chair of the Side Saddle Association, and me, Sally, at the opening of the Side Saddle Exhibition at the Museum of the Horse, Tuxford. The Exhibition runs until September the 5th. Open daily Mon-Friday 9am-4pm and Saturdays 10am-1pm. Closed Sundays. Free parking behind the museum. One minute off the A1 Northbound.

That was another busy Saturday morning but somehow it doesn't seem to have reduced the stock by much . . . . I still have plenty of bridles both new and secondhand as well as the usual selection of secondhand English saddles.

I will do another Landing Expanding this Saturday from 9.30 - 1 pm so that browsers and bargain-hunters can get a good look at what's available. If you don't see what you want, please ask as I may have it stowed away somewhere . . . .

I don't only post pictures of tack: my tiny shop is extremely crowded but I deliberately leave space for a flower display, since I like flowers. This week's is quite exuberant!
